View Full Version : Are the fans dragging this series down?
Online there’s so much negativity mainly surrounding Caroline, Nancy and Sam
People saying Caroline is the nastiest housemate of all time etc which is a joke :skull: we’ve literally had worse people in the last 2 series on itv… let alone the ch4 & 5 eras
I’m so bored of seeing the negativity everywhere when this has actually been a pretty good series.
People begging for all the bigger characters to be evicted so we’re left with the bores :umm2::umm2:
Is the public too sensitive for big brother nowadays?

Are the fans dragging this series down?
No, it's actually just a pretty bad season

I think Big Brother and the HM's as a whole are just too sensitive nowadays. Everyone so easily offended, and then pandered too. And yeah, like most say, it's just a very boring series overall really.

The wokeness has ruined shows like BB because they think a villain is "nasty" and they're offended by everything
Even somebody like Helen was way more "nasty" than Caroline and she won :skull:

TiBB's atmosphere funny enough to me seems more mild this series? Maybe it's just less people watching? When I go to other sites, it's like they pick up on anything to get obsessed over and that they can reasonably use to hold a pitchfork. It's really contrived things too, especially on sites like Reddit where every post needs their updoot(s)...

That may be the case but the series itself is doing just that, too, all-by itself. It’s been a crap series. Not a patch on last year.
I think BB is a completely different entity than it was in 2000. I was reading yesterday that the BB show has had 100 million streams on itvx since ITV took it over and the social media attention makes it one of ITV's most successful ventures. So us saying, it wasn't like this in the past etc is completely irrelevant. The way they have the show setup gives ITV the results it wants

Some of the fans are being soft when it comes to Housemates like Caroline, Feyisola, and George imo, as there have been far worse people on a Human level over the years than any of these people.
I do think though that the producers are the bigger issue, they've got the Show in such a state that the Housemates get thrown out of the house for having a conspiracy theory.:umm2:
Some people wonder why the series is so dull, it's the production team creating a heavily political atmosphere throughout all of the 4 weeks that I watched it for, and having the Housemates be scared to say or do anything.

I dont view Sam or Nancy as big characters and neither would be missed
Caroline should make the final

I've always loved BB.
I can't comment on the last over a week now as I haven't watched it.
I only get bits of information when I look across TIBB as to it now.
I'm not watching and have never before given up watching BB
I won't be watching the final.
For me, this IS the worst ever series of BB since I began watching it.
Mainly because of the production of it by BB.
The nominations messing, eviction farces, the immunity.
It's only a 7 week series and Caroline for instance hasn't been able to be put up for eviction for 3 WEEKS in a row.
That's near half the series, ridiculous.
They may as well have just given her a free pass to the final week.
Plus I've disliked too, this daft eye currency nonsense.
Yeah though, I've parted company with this series, as I said, in my view it's the worst ever.
Mainly because of the interference from BB on nomination, immunity and eviction processes.

ITV are dragging this season down. Bad choice, after bad choice has made this a truly meh season, along with quite a bland cast who don’t really seem into the game itself.
However, Caroline isn’t that bad. She’s this year’s villain, and BB needs a villain in until the end. People moaning she has immunity and then save and replace forget not one other housemate even bothered trying for them. That’s the weak calibre of housemates we’ve had this time; last years bunch would have fought tooth and nail for them

Well they couldn't bid for Immunity.
The first time she got it, she had far more eye currency than anyone else.
Which BB knew
The second time when she got save and replace ONLY Richard could have matched her or beaten her.
Which again BB knew !
Plus also the housemates too knew what the others had as eye currency.
If they're going to do a bidding challenge, do it where at least a fair number would have a real opportunity to outbid others.
Otherwise bidding as a competition is meaningless.
…I do agree very much with what Ben has said above…and I do feel that Caroline must make the final…/she and Richard, both…so that we can have that final boss showdown……but if there is a pass to the final given to any housemate…?…then it’ll have to try so hard to sustain interest and watch because it takes so much away in terms of what BB has been …/…that anticipation and possibility of ‘named housemate’ being nominated enough to face eviction…obviously not just for the audience but for the housemates themselves…and that ‘power of untouchable’…?…well, that’s kind of a poison chalice as well as Caroline would say, isn’t it…because in itself/whatever an individual personality/…it’s likely to re-adjust behaviour but in a way that has unfairness and imbalance against all of those who don’t have that equal power…
…anyway, I don’t think the dragging down is the fans and I don’t think it’s the housemates either…I think it’s the weakness of BB in its production…tasks that are too short and flimsy and when basic budgets are all that have been achieved, too many treats given to boost and elevate that basic-ness….i mean, yesterday…?..bad brother came to town, he was mean and he was nasty…?…so then they were all given a nice big Halloween feast to end the day……for goodness sake…BB is getting the housemates that it’s nurturing itself…

Totally agree with op
People seem hellbent on villainising sam and nancy. They are so lightwiegh vs previous seasons, and caroline is actually better off as playing the game. I think people are far too sensitive this is a reality show for gods sake!

I do think it's a very difficult fan base to please. Lots of people look back at previous series with rose tinted glasses and want the show to be something it will never be anymore. People also get much more invested in BB than most reality shows so everything prompts quite strong reactions. Lots of people are too quick to write off a series as well and give up early if they're not immediately entertained or if they don't like the housemate who's currently getting the most airtime. It's always worth sticking with a series just to see the journey they go on and the various different storylines develop and how they turn out
A lot of the frustration is because ITV shoot themselves in the foot frequently though and do things that most viewers can immediately see is a bad idea. There's still a very strong feeling of untapped potential with BB that it could be a much better show if they managed the tasks, twists and production better

I don’t look at anything to do with BB on social media tbh so i wouldn’t really know. But i will say.. Caroline is imo the best housemate we’ve had in the last THREE series’… i think alot of people probably can’t let go of the comments towards Zelah which happened like 4 weeks ago

Production is the key issue. Too many twists and the edit and producer decisions are so unbalanced towards certain housemates over others. I agree with those who say Caroline is much needed but Sam, to me, isn't entertaining. He's not a villain either - just an irritant. I'd like to see Nancy away from him so hopefully he'll be out next.
I think last year you had a real divide in the house with Ali and Khaled/Marcelo, with Hanah and Segun's storyline coming through late. Caroline and Richard just doesn't feel the same, mainly because both play up to the role set by the other. It doesn't feel as real compared to the animosity of 2024. The romance is as dull as anything between someone who I'm concerned shouldn't be in the house due to her mental health and a housemate who seems to purely exist because of the storyline. Compare it to 2023, when Henry and Jordan were shown as people in their own right.
Why they didn't stretch the shopping task to two days I have no idea. Wednesday's episode was the worst in a long time and could have easily and effectively been filled by it. Everything feels lazy with a "that will do" attitude - and it could be said that feeling has seeped into the house as well.

Yeah all very true. The tasks have all had some good concepts but the execution has been so disappointing. That Bad Brother one would have been great as two days and by the second day I think you'd really start to see some frustrations growing at the henchmen. Every Weds episode has just been dead this year
