The Income Tax back door attack,
forced some companies to stop talking on
new workers.
[Labour's jobs disaster… as Reeves comes back
for MORE tax: Unemployment surges
to four-year high with
wage rises slowing - but public sector still enjoys
bumper pay deals]
[The unemployment rate was 5 per cent
in the three months to September,
up from 4.8 per cent in
The three months to August.
That was the highest level since early 2021,
and above the 4.9 per cent expected
by economists.
The ONS said average regular wage growth
also pulled back again, to 4.6 per cent
In the three months to September,
down from 4.7 per cent in the previous three months,
and was 0.8 per cent higher after
taking CPI inflation into account.
Wage growth is now the lowest seen since April 2022.]

The unemployment/ employment figures are near irrelevant.
Statistics which are misleading in my view.
They've been messed about with for decades.
If you only have say 10 to 20 hours a week working for a company you are considered employed.
If on a zero hours contract you're classed as employed.
There's people classed as employed who have the bulk of their income from universal credit claims.
I'd love to see the real figures of employment and then see those really unemployed.
How many are on zero hours contract.
How many only have 10 to 20 hours work a week.
How many work only between 20 to 30 hours.
How many are claiming a top up benefit as income.
Then how many are actually really in what is termed full time work..
Then the employment and unemployment figures may give the full and clear picture.
Not however as they are presented more pathetically now.

4 million on UC have never worked, national scandal
the current state of the economy doesn't indicate an increase in opportunities for the unemployed
