I think the biggest thing is that it confused both Sam and the audience. Enough that his gf had to explain to her audience through Tiktok that Zelah didn't realize that Sam was being serious.

I feel Zelah knew what they were doing and that it would help with both their appeal and increase their airtime, but didn't care that they were putting Sam's feelings on the line in the process. After all, Chris and Jojo totally were platonic until they absolutely weren't off-screen... Jordan and Henry sort of did the same thing as well where they didn't want to admit what was going on, so there's a pattern of under the table romantic connections being made... despite a partner on the outside in at least one case. Hanah/Segun?... didn't he have a possible person waiting just not yet serious?...

It was so damn funny when they showed the clip of her slagging Cameron off, and you could see the gears turning in her head trying to think of an excuse, and then when she said it Caroline just called out her bullsh1t. Cameron didn't care anyway because he's a total simp, but... so funny.

I recall Zelah telling Sam and Nancy that his g/f said he was free to explore a romantic interest…I recall discussing it on this forum as he had previously said he was in a monogamous relationship…

I question how serious his relationship is, not whether there was cheating. She was sweeping for him hard after the way he came off in the edit. He picked whichever label made him look the best in the moment and as we know, Zelah is very concerned with both being and coming off as being on a moral high ground. Taking away that, I don't think it would be nearly as scandalous. So that's why I think his behavior with Sam was so scandalous I think, is that he would want to have such tight controls over others as to how they act and speak and yet he was being careless with Sam, someone he barely knew.

He can't say "Well, Sam & I actually have X-style relationship", the public just didn't see it etc and I thought it was OK..."... they didn't really know each other at all even with weeks in the house and that's not enough time to relax boundaries and act in a loose way without being misunderstood. You need more solid connections than that and it's not easily built while inside a social experiment aka pressure cooker.

Whatever Nancy and Sam's dynamic was like in the house isn't going to be how every friendship will operate, look at Marcello and Sarah last year for example being very different to both friendships being talked about on this thread from this series.

And people don't always bitch about one of their friends for a good reason tbf, otherwise they probably wouldn't be friends anymore if there was a really good reason for an argument to break out between them.

Is there any chance it is cultural? Here it's normal to talk **** to each other but you would expect it back pretty much. Cameron and Jenny seemed they could be vibing on that level. Or at least I had thought that they could be. I'm a dumb American, so what do I know.

I would deign to say that does make them best duo because as you say, Jenny could simply **** on the kitchen table in front of the whole house and Cameron would still come to bat for her.
