Clearly a groundbreaking thread needed for the forum.
Mel C was always my favourite from the start, the fact she could actually sing helped too.
Her look in ‘Too Much’ was probably my favourite in her Spice era.

Mel-B stands out to me more as a person, for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t translate into “best singer of the gang”. I don’t know, tbh.

Well being a straight man and back in the day it was geri
After watching her when she was dating Robbie Williams years later I didn’t realise at the time how beautiful she actually was
I said I had a big crush on Posh when I was a kid, so I'll vote her based off of that. :idc: She was the Sid Vicious of the band, i.e., couldn't play (or sing, in this case), but got by on the strength of her presence and look. Though it's debatable any of them could sing particularly well, I guess. Mel B probably had the best voice of them all, being honest.

She came across pretty well on X-Factor, too. But then so does even Simon Cowell these days.

Simon was certainly a unique personality on The X Factor.

Yeah, but like I say he’s a lot softer now, across the board.

I think that having a child has calmed him down thankfully.
Because he could definitely take it too far sometimes imo.

I remember once when they had a Welsh girl on there singing Celine Dion appallingly, and Simon was his usual charming self when rejecting her, etc. Then her parents came in and Simon asked for the dad's name, and for a second there you think Simon's about to tailor his criticism to be a bit softer and more conciliatory. Instead, he comes out with 'Peter (or whatever it was), she was absolutely awful. In fact, you are partly to blame for your daughter's delusions.' :joker:

as a closet case it always had to be Sporty really, but she had the best voice and a good solo career so it stood the test of time

In that case tbf, I will agree with Simon.
Parents should tell their child the truth if they're about to humiliate themselves on national TV.

None. They were all interchangeable, barely talented little pop tarts. Not my kind of music.....
They were in the right place at the right time

That’s the case for most artists/bands though.

Well not really
Not many bands have anywhere near as much success as the Spice Girls and many , probably the majority are far more talented

Most people in pop lack great singing abilities and have major success. Many are just marketed in a way to become the next big thing (with varying success).
Same for other genres. The best don’t usually make it as the biggest.

Yeah we know all that.. you are not exactly dropping jaw breaking news here
My point was that the Spice Girls had unparalleled success despite having no real talent- one half decent singer and no dancers in the group ..

Did I say I was dropping ground breaking news? Can’t see I did.
I know what your point is, which is why I replied with my point - many successful artist/bands are in the right time and place (many of whom are not really that talented - especially in pop).

My earlier reference was they took it all to the extreme as they were the ‘perfect storm’ of unprecedented success aligned with them being almost talentless
That’s it basically
We are just travelling around in circles now
