Soooo Leona Lewis just appeared on our screen singing that Snow Patrol song Run …

So I was wondering what on earth happened to her ?

She was such a massive star then …

Tracy Chapman, love her voice, some great songs in the 90's but you hear nothing from her these days

Dido. Had 2 massive worldwide albums reach #1, was the best selling UK artist at one point and then just vanished.

I went to see her in Dublin in 2019. She took a break for personal reasons/family etc

Sometimes the reasons for a fall-off as someone's just beginning to take off are quite sad. One that springs to mind is Amy Studt, who - back in 2002 or 2003 - was beginning to take off as the UK's answer to the likes of Avril Lavigne:

All great songs. Then the label rereleased her album after the success of these singles - with just one new song (a Sheryl Crow cover) that didn't chart well, so she got dropped, and suffered a bunch of health issues - some mental - and also struggled with addiction.

Pretty sad how the music industry can just chew up and spit people out on a whim, especially when they're so young and vulnerable.

One that I would add that I don't know much about in terms of her personal life is Jem.

Similar period of time (2004-2005) and had a lot of success with her debut album, songs featuring in loads of TV shows and adverts, but then... nothing?
