View Full Version : Why do Ebay sellers use Evri?

Worse courier ever.
I have FOUR Ebay buys that have been stuck in the Evri shipping system for nearly two weeks. :fist:
Last update was a 10 days ago. I don't think they'll ever get delivered. :fist:
An Ebay refund is no problem, but Evri really does suck.

Royal Mail gets criticised but I ordered some Ebay items a couple of weeks ago that used RM, and they were delivered in two days.
There are many more couriers Ebay sellers could use like you say that are far more reliable.
Evri need to get out of business.

I hadn't heard of Evri before this year, I got a couple of deliveries from them in the last month though and everything went smoothly. I have had no courier issues this year thankfully (probably cos Fastway have gone out of business)

They used to be called Hermes. Nice to know you're okay. :)
But I'm gonna have to look for other presents if they're not delivered soon. I can't be messing about.

I think they're lost for good.
Remember loads more parcels are being sent every day and are in their system. Ten days is just too long, I've been told.
I'll give it a few more days though.

You'll have to start Christmas shopping in October next year
….ahhhhh, so annoying for you Gusto, when you thought that you were all done and dusted and just waiting for the deliveries…yeah, Evri can be pretty bad, I have to say…but actually, pretty good/easy to send stuff with so I guess that’s why they’re quite widely used on eBay…

Evri just don't care and there's no contact number. The Ebay sellers say they will give refunds if I don't get the parcels soon. That's good. There are hundreds of preople in the same position, it's all over the Internet.

Ive had trouble with both of those and UPS ,always sorted it in the end,but annoying when they say they tried to deliver but no one was available to receive parcel when we have waited in all day, Evri has always been spot on,I reckon it's the luck of the draw, I found DPD better than DHL though.

I've kind of given up with ebay and Amazon's going the same way. I get a message to say your package has been delivered... But no package. It's a racket.

Interesting …
We use eBay as default these days
Never have any delivery issues at all and occasional when the product is underwhelming the sellers are happy enough to give a 100% refund and many don’t want the product back if you show displeasure in your messages to them
At worst you keep the item and get 50 % refund - they are all so desperate to avoid a bad feedback rating off you

I've had messages to say stuff's been delivered when it hasn't. There's a secure mail box by my gate and the house is clearly signed. When I've contacted them they've told me to wait 24 hours and check my neighbours don't have it. I don't have any neighbours. I had one delivery that didn't arrive despite the courier firm saying it had been delivered, then turned up days later via Royal Mail. Hopeless...

That’s weird compared to our experiences
We don’t have a mailbox system so I don’t know how that works .. could it be confusing to the guys dripping off ??
Do you ever check their feedback history/ ratings ??
I tend to to look at their NEGATIVE feedback comments and go from there unless it’s only a few quid involved

Glad I don't use eBay
Glad I don't use eBay
Well it’s bladdy marvellous !
Often you can get what you want for 50 to 50% of high street prices this is for NEW products
There are thousands of amazing used items for sale .. I am looking at my third USED iwatch purchase- amazing value on eBay
Anything we see advertised on the telly or online or whatever can be found far cheaper on eBay - often free delivery 2-3 days later
We’re not taking cheapest alternatives here more like the same exact gadget / toy or appliance but far cheaper ..
I will admit to filtering out all the foreign sellers wherever possible and sticking to UK based people though you pay a few quid more than foreign sellers ..
its down to the delivery drivers in a specific area, so any courier can be good or bad depending on your luck
Barry.

If I see my personnal collection on ebay i use Royal Mail pick up, so much better. I usually have the same Evri delivery driver so its been good, so far, but touch wood just incase
Ironically we bought a £25 present for our grandson in Florida off an online business weeks ago and the damn thing hasn’t turned up yet !!
That never happens with eBay in our experience
We fly to the states early Saturday morning

I've had dealings with eBay ,but it's never interested me to actually buy from there. I never use Etsy, temu or tiktok shop either . I know there can be decent deals, but these platforms attract more scams than more credible sites like Amazon,I know Amazon isn't always perfect btw ...but I trust it more.

Its about personal preference and experiences I guess
We have made over 200 purchases with eBay and not one scam .. there have been a few disappointments but they were resolved with a refund as I mentioned earlier
Oddly i rarely use amazon as I am not familiar with it and the occasional time I have used it it often turned out more costly than expected as I never feel comfortable about the postage charges .. I don’t always see them
The eBay layout just seems clearer and more intuitive plus you can sort to show cheapest first ( including postage )

Yeah they're great. There's another whose name escapes me but they track right down to the last minute. You see where he actually is, each street, in real time. I wish Ebay used them more.

:joker: I never use Amazon. Their add on payments like shipping far too high. They have deals on prime membership so often though that gives free shipping. I find Ebay's delivery costs crazy actually (probably because 99% of stuff isnt coming from Ireland though so probably isnt as bad for people in the UK) for example i wanted to buy a mug there for my son as a one of his Christmas presents and to ship to Ireland from the UK they quoted £18! 3 times the price of the mug

In their defence, when I have used Amazon, a few years ago, their deliveries were quick, often next day. I've never been let down. But for a non Prime buyer, costs can be high.

They offer free month trials a lot though, so you get to use the streaming service free for a month plus get free shipping for a month. At the moment I have a 3 months subscription with them at a reduced rate, something like £6 a month I think? I normally wouldn't sign up unless it was a free trial but I knew I was going to be ordering a lot in those 3 months because of Christmas so it's really been worth that subscription amount, I have my reminder set to cancel though before it goes back up and Christmas will be over!

If a delivery driver is confused by a mailbox I would suggest he needs a change of career. It's a mailbox! It has the house name and "MAIL" written right there on it.

I only mentioned it because one of of our friends has a mailbox screwed onto their garden wall about 5 metres in front of the house and it’s rarely seen even though they have to walk past it - so they get letters through their front porch and parcels over the gate or left with a neighbour

[Evri apologises to customers after parcel
delivery complaints]
[Evri has apologised to customers and said
it is continuing to invest in its delivery service
in Northern Ireland, following complaints about
missing and delayed parcels.
The courier company opened a new £1.3m depot
in Mallusk, County Antrim in September.
GMB, the union which represents some Evri staff,
said the site had "teething issues" which were
contributing to delays.
Dozens of customers have been sharing stories on
social media about lost and missing deliveries
in the run up to Christmas, as well as criticising
the customer service they have received
from the company.
Leanne Flanagan, from Portglenone,
County Antrim told BBC News
NI her recent experience had been "horrific".]

I’ve not had much issue with them. DPD on the other hand are terrible.
My favourite excuse for them not delivering is ‘sorry we missed you’. Funny as it’s usually on days when I’ve been in the front room and by the front door all day. So unless they are knocking super quietly or not at all, they haven’t actually tried to deliver.
Niamh.

…it’s so annoying when you’ve waited in all day and the deliverer doesn’t even try to deliver but they do stop to post a card through the door to say that they tried to deliver…I mean, that’s just parcel trolling, isn’t it…I just can’t fathom why anyone would do that and then think, oh yes I’ve had a great working day today…21 people stayed in their homes today, having a disappointing and frustrating day, yay…!!!!…
…I love Amazon and their deliveries, they very rarely don’t deliver when they say they will and always leave a parcel in a safe place if we’re not home…plus I get to watch some great movies and shows also…
