The thing is Australia isn’t like the UK. Terrorism isn’t a big/common thing over there (well wasn’t). I also think the event itself was quite small, the area in which it looked to be held isn’t massive.

The number of dead following the Bondi Beach shooting has risen to 16, including one child, New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park tells ABC.

'Then there was one detective over the other side who started firing at the shooter on the ground.

'There was more firing and then Reuven got hit. He was trying to get people to get down out of the way and then maybe disarm the shooter on the ground, he was walking towards him to fight him.

'But then he was shot – hit in the kidneys, I think. I was there when he died.'

We had soldiers on the streets during the Troubles. Airports have been locked down for decades. This is not new.
