…but Together For Palestine, WHAM! and The Pogues are hot on her tail.
Kylie Minogue takes an early lead in the Official UK Christmas Number 1 race 2025 with her Amazon Music UK exclusive single XMAS, Official Charts can confirm.
Currently 7,000 units ahead 48 hours into the race, the Aussie pop princess’s lead is boosted by the release of XMAS's new 7” gold vinyl, 12” zoetrope vinyl and CD editions which freshly dropped on Friday, and also Amazon Music streams which are typically higher over the weekend too.
The UK's best-selling track of the week so far, and just 231 chart units behind WHAM!, is Together For Palestine's charity single, Lullaby (3). The song, featuring Leigh-Anne, Bastille's Dan Smith, Mabel, Neneh Cherry, Nadine Shah and more raises life-saving funds for the people of Gaza. All profits from the release will go to Choose Love’s Together For Palestine Fund, supporting three Palestinian-led organisations: Taawon, Palestine Children's Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service.

Would love Kylie to do it but reckon she’ll get overtaken by Wham.
Lullaby at 3 surprises me, that will defo drop off though by the end of the week as it doesn’t have strong streaming numbers.

I like it when proper Christmas songs get the Number One slot, rather than cheesey (or meaty, in the case of LadBaby) novelty songs.

Less than 24 hours to go. It’s apparently very close between Kylie, Wham and Together for Palestine.
I hope Kylie gets it

I hope Kylie gets it.
Although I have never liked Christmas reduced to XMAS.
I can see why however for this song after her performance on Strictly.

Yay, Kylie nabbed the Christmas number 1 and in doing so stopped Wham getting it a third year in row. :clap1:
Wham finished at #2 followed by Mariah at #3, Brenda Lee at #4 and Together for Palestine at #5.

Result!!! Adore Kylie
Bagged her first Christmas number 1 and her 8th number 1 overall. :clap1:
I heard that she had a partnership with Amazon so that it just played first every time anyone asked their Amazon device to play Christmas music - and that counted to the charts. Makes it a bit of a fix. Don't think in reality most people even realise that Kylie has released a Christmas song

I’m happy it blocked Wham getting it for a third year. :dazzler:
Also Kylie’s song has been in the charts for a few weeks now. ;)
Yeah Wham would be boring, that must be another product of it just being one of the first songs on a lot of streaming playlists

Yeah, between Wham and Mariah, it’s usually a pretty boring race for number 1 at Christmas now due to streaming. Happy Kylie bucked that trend.

Its pretty poor, I think its taken off because you can do actions to it like YMCA.... better than Wham though
Christmas number 1's actually meant something when grannies went to the record shop just before christmas to get the number 1 for the grand kids. It could make an artists career. Those days are long gone

It’s weird (and I love it); Christmas number 1 is a big thing in the UK only. No other country makes it a big deal.
