Long walk with the kids and dog earlier. Walk round to parents for late lunch in a minute, turkey, pickles bubble & squeak. Stranger Things later once the kids are in bed.

Eating, basically. My Mam always does a big party spread/buffet on Boxing Day - can’t wait!

Had leftovers for breakfast, a lazy morning/afternoon, just watching The Count of Monte Cristo now and driving to Kerry after that for the rest of the holidays

It's a local thing, a waterfight between our village and the neighbouring town's volunteer firefighters, to push a suspended barrel to the other side of the ford.

Yesterday at the ( American) Christmas dinner meal I casually asked what everyone was doing on Boxing Day and was met with complete silence ..

I naively thought that everyone celebrated ‘the day after ‘ Christmas !!

They had never heard of it .. the grandpa asked if it was a day of boxing ..

Yeah my American cousins were like, it doesn't have a name its just the day after Christmas, at least they stick to that and dont import days like we import American stuff

Boxing Day partly developed because household servants were expected to work Christmas Day , so the next day was "their Christmas." I think (paid) domestics were less of a thing in the USA, so the tradition didn't really catch on.

Well, the tradition of tradespeople or employees being given gifts by their customers or employers goes back further.

Notice how in Christmas Carol, Scrooge's kind-hearted nephew Fred thinks nothing of making the servants work all day, while even Scrooge gives Bob Cratchitt the day off!

They had never heard of it .. the grandpa asked if it was a day of boxing ..We call it St Stephen's Day here in Ireland (plus in other predominately Catholic countries I believe)
