Cherie

Personally I don't see this going well for Reform, all these defections are from Tories who were in power and did a pretty rubbish job, so defecting to another party isn't going to suddenly make them good at their jobs, they dont want to lose their seats that is the bottom line, self interest only

i said this previously, reform is getting all the dross from the tories. That actually makes the tories more compelling and reform less so

I think a mix of professional, right leaning, experienced politicians crossing over is no bad thing for Reform. Jenrick is high profile, he resigned as Immigration Minister when the Rwanda plan was watered down... He's quite a catch for Reform. I admire Kemi, but the Conservatives are dead in the water.

Some Local Elections in May

Can destroy Kemi

I'd say 'will destroy Kemi' rather than 'can destroy' her. My area was overwhelmingly Conservative until around 5 years ago. The rot set in when Boris was shafted by his own people and then they just lurched from one disaster to another.

Strong action from Kemi which will either make or break her leadership (and maybe the party). It's not a good look for Jenrick if the evidence is clear but he is a very capable politician and will tempt a lot more Tory MPs to defect. I do think Reform have peaked though and will implode at some point - if Kemi can ride this out she'll end up in a stronger position for it

His thinking is as vile as Farage's.

Badenoch is though just appalling, she crawled after Jenrick to back up her own now hypocrisy on long standing policies of former Conservative leaders/ PMs.
He's now kicked her well and truly in the teeth.

i don't know how anyone can look at our political choices positively at the moment. They are all crap. Farage as PM would be a disaster. Starmer is a disaster and Kemi just isn't up to the task. It's a shame really, because i prefer her to all the others

Livia

I suppose if politicians were leaving their parties for Labour or the Tories, it's be a different story? Of course people are going to defect to Reform. They are a new party. They need experienced politicians and they're the only party right now who reflect what the public is thinking. I know everyone hopes they implode and that there's trouble coming... but it's wishful thinking.

I know, it's extremely depressing. I've looked at potentially leaving the country but it feels like the whole world is on fire.

I can't imagine living in a country run by Nigel Farage. It's almost satirical, but too depressing to be so. Hoping everything comes crashing down in the next couple of years otherwise I might need to learn a skill and get the hell away.

The problem for me Livia is that it is the same people being recycled elsewhere, Kemi had an opportunity yesterday to appoint a fresh face into the vacant justice role but chose another known face, I get we need experience but while you are in the shadow government this is the time to test peoples skills not roll out old hands

The Tories couldn't find their arse in the dark with both hands. Labour couldn't find their arse with all the lights on. They both lurch from one disaster to another, they lie (Stop The Boats) they cheat (pick any one of a dozen examples from both sides) they've completely lost the confidence of the voting public with very few exceptions. Farage isn't going to take anyone who knocks on the door, at least I hope he isn't. But Westminster is a ****ing zoo, they need a core of people who know the ropes. More will defect I'm sure, but they won't all be accepted and even if they are, the Associations pick the parliamentary candidate and I have faith the people who make up the Associations will do the right thing and choose the best candidate before the next general election and not just go with someone because they know their name. That's my hope. I could be wrong, but only time will tell.
