20p for Chips
One Day Only, though

[A takeaway boss has slashed
chip prices to 20p – sparking huge queues of
schoolkids desperate for a taste of 80s-style prices]
[Sadly, Nassar was forced to limit
the offer to one day due to costs
and says UK chippies face a struggle to
survive with rocketing expenses.]

…whatever the chip cost, I wouldn’t stand in that queue for sure…if those school kids are on their lunchtime, they might not get their chips before the end of lunch bell goes…

Yes a Big Promo
for his Multi Hot Food stores.
I would do it for a week.
I think they are there as Schools ends

[The shop owner — better known to locals as
“Uncle Nas” — launched the offer for anyone
in school uniform between 3pm and 5pm,
after classes had ended.]

……it’ll be a little anecdote to tell the grandchildren some day…I recall that time that we all queued for two hours for 20p chips, them were the days by gum…

A small cod and chips from my nearest chippy is £14. Large cod and chips £18. Prohibitively expensive for some, I reckon.
It's £4 to £5 for a decent piece of fish from the supermarket, so its not unreasonable for a chip shop to charge 3 times the price. They keep saying that inflation is under control, but my weekly shop went up more last year than the year previous

They should’ve gone in full 80s mode and wrapped the chips in newspaper.

I think the sight of Keir Starmer peaking out from under my saveloy would put me off massively

1980s anything in Birmingham probably seems quite futuristic.
