Loads of MP's there
including Kemi

Reform UK Danny Kruger

Looks like PM Starmer will allow it, next week.

There are many underground rooms
which some local Chinese folk fear
they could be dragged into.

[Bobby Dean, the Liberal Democrat MP for Carshalton,
has described the site of the proposed new embassy as
“a giant diplomatic gift to China”.
“If you look at China’s track record of espionage and their
intent across Britain so far, it makes sense that they will try
to tap into our physical infrastructure here as well,”
he continued.

“I think we need to be much tougher towards them.
I think that’s what they respect. I don’t think China will
look at all of our deference towards them and give us a
better trade deal as a result.

“And the story in The Telegraph this week has revealed
just how close that they’ll be able to get with their plans.
That is really, really concerning.”]

One of the most questionable decisions Kier has made and one that will come back to bite us all on the bum if it goes ahead. Politicians generally don't have a great track record when it comes to taking notice of protests, though. Not since the poll tax riots.

How can whichever government approved this have been so stupid?

Chinese mega-embassy in London approved by government after debate over security risks…

Plans for a huge Chinese embassy in London have been approved by the government after years of debate over security risks

The decision is "now final unless it is successfully challenged in court", Housing Secretary Steve Reed says

China bought the site of the proposed new embassy, at Royal Mint Court, near the Tower of London, for £255m in 2018

The decision on whether to approve the new embassy was under close scrutiny due to concerns about the security implications of the plan, including the location, size and design of the building

On the face of it … this sounds like pure madness

January 2026, plans indicate that a new, heavily reinforced basement will be located just over a meter from sensitive, high-capacity fibre-optic communication cables.
