Don't normally have alot of time for Trump, but listening to his speech on Green Energy it really resonated with me, UK and Europe have some of the highest electricity costs to the detriment of business and people alike, Wind power has not reduced the cost, if anything it has increased it, we buy these Windmills from China at a huge cost never mind the carbon footprint of bringing them here, then we tear up our land our seabed at the expense of wild life .so years of environmental disruption ..for what? just to point to what we are doing?

Pretty much the only "green" form of energy worth any time is nuclear.

Wind Power is staying in the UK

As it builds up power
except when no wind

Energy prices are high, but it’s not really because of wind. It’s mostly gas, how the market is set up, and years of bad policy. Wind itself is actually cheap now.

Wind cuts fossil fuels, but it’s unreliable so you still need backup.

So it’s not a miracle solution. It’s just another messy compromise.

Yes we all know that electricity prices are linked to gas prices but until they cut the link, its pretty pointless setting up windfarms and gas lighting people into thinking their electricity will be cheaper which is what they are doing, Labour are going to reduce energy bills by 150.00 in April, but they have increased by 150.00 since they took office so we are just back where we started and still paying the highest electricity prices in Europe no matter how much wind power they use

So the issue is the system, not wind. Which is literally what I said. Blaming turbines for a broken market is just arguing with the wrong thing.

The more energy options there are, the better, surely. Oil resources are finite, wind isn't

yes but when its costing just as much as oil and its 'free' and 'Green' you have to wonder why they can't give something back to the people that are paying for it

i don't disagree. The price of energy must come down

The amount of usable energy wind can generate is also finite.

Turning all of our green spaces into wind and solar battery chargers still won't be enough, especially compared to nuclear.

Chasing after renewables is a fool's errand.

Don't you think Cornwall is enhanced by all the windfarm splendour?

My electric bill for January 2026 was £126.

Last January it was £68. Same energy used.

We now have the highest energy costs in the world but wages aren't going up.

That Milliband needs locking up.
