…I might give Sinners a watch, it’s one that I’ve looked at but haven’t got around to watching yet…and edited…..
Sinners was fun but very derivative and basically a black From Dusk Til Dawn, with some white guilt 'the white man stole black people's sound' sprinkled on top to appeal to self-loathing and pretentious Oscar voters. It's not worth sixteen Oscar nominations. This is Black Panther again, but with horror movies.

Sinners was quite a creative Film tbf.
If you can get past the slow start and the gross sexual stuff in the Film.

There should be a "biggest luvvie" Oscar, "actor who takes themselves the most seriously" and "most overpaid for least screen time". I might watch then. Or get Ricky Gervaise to present it...

I mean it was a decent film but yeah........ I think that's an indicator of the slim pickings in films lately

F1 is the only one I've seen.
I remember Everything Everywhere all at Once winning Best Picture a few years ago and I hated that film.

I hated it as well, maybe I'm not high brow enough or something but seriously?

Not even the butt plug fight? It was pretty unforgettable.
I really liked that film. We're a mixed bunch aren't we.

Also The Perfect Neighbor! A brilliant but harrowing doc, it’s on Netflix for anyone who hasn’t seen it. It’s captivating.

…very distressing and tragic story…and so brilliantly told with the body cam footage…

Sinners was fine. Not a gazillion Oscars worthy, but ... fine.
When a black-directed film with a black-majority cast gets so many award nominations, it instantly creates a cynical elephant in the room, that it may or may not be a condescending headpat, or tokenism.
Especially when the film isn't exactly amazing.

I'm gonna watch the Oscars just for Conan O'brien.
I've been a bit addicted to his podcast lately.

I watched F1 the movie the other day, and yes it deserves the oscar nominations
