We went some time back, it was a nice experience, went to the desert and did the dune buggy thing, the hotel staff couldnt do enough for you, the weather was great, never really wanted to go back but now I am afraid Iran knew where to hit Dubai and they have tanked their tourism, and its doubtful you would get insurance even if you could get a flight. I saw this morning that Iran is going to targe the Jebel port and told people to leave, its a very touristy area

We could never see the fascination...its never appealed to us in the slightest. I don't like extravagant hotels with no atmosphere...give me native Australia or America any day with Rustic hotels full of character...

I've been to a handful of Islamic countries, my favourite remains Tunisia and I'd definitely go back there. They seemed to have recovered from the 2015 beach attack where nearly 40 people were shot. A lot of Tunisians put themselves at risk to protect the tourists. I know it's not the same thing but hopefully Dubai will recover from this in time. Still don't want to go though.
