[As of March 2026, the government is introducing
"youth jobs grants" with the following criteria:

Target Group: Employers receive the
payment for hiring individuals aged 18 to 24.
Eligibility: The young person must have
been on benefits and searching for work
for at least six months.
Goal: The scheme aims to support
approximately 60,000 young people
into employment over the next three years.

Additional Business Incentives
Alongside the primary £3,000 grant,
other measures have been introduced to support hiring:

Apprenticeship Bonuses: Small- and medium-sized
businesses (SMEs) will receive £2,000 for every
new employee aged 16 to 24 they take on as an apprentice.
Extended Job Subsidies:
An existing programme that guarantees
six-month minimum wage jobs for those
out of work for 18 months has been extended
to include everyone up to age 24.
Foundation Apprenticeships: Incentives
for these roles will expand into the hospitality
and retail sectors starting in April.

This investment is part of a broader
£1 billion package intended to
create roughly 200,000 jobs and training
opportunities for young people across the UK.
