Life peerages are no more democratic than having hereditary lords in Parliament.

When the electorate says NO THANKS to a certain MP, elevating them to the Lords just to keep them in Parliament or to give them a Cabinet position (Thangam Debbonaire, David Cameron) is basically ignoring the voice of the public, and handpicking people the PM likes, instead of selecting someone who was elected to represent an area in Parliament.

(Yes I know Sir Sadiq hasn't yet been rejected by voters)
