I think the forum could do with a spell checker because some threads have words in it which have been spelt wrong and it makes the thread harder to understand. It would be so much easier if everyone got their spellings right.

If you're not sure there are plenty of spell checkers about. One of the easiest things to do is replace the word you're not sure of spelling with a similar word you can spell.

Yep, thats what I use...

...I don't see the need for TiBB to get a spellchecker...

if it is such a concern to people then they could type their posts into word and spell check before posting, I cant see that a spell checker would be that helpful

I'm dyslexic... I wouldnt know if I was spelling a word correcty or not.

I feel very conscious of how I spell.... because I know I cant decide if its right or wrong.

A spell checker would just aplify this. Its not my fault if people have a problem with my spelling

This is one of those subjects that come up from time to time. Rather than overloading the server with a spell checker feature it is much easier for members to use a decent featured browser other than Internet Exploder 6 or 7. Try for example Opera 9 or Firefox 2 both of which have spell checking add-on's.

Of course Apple Mac users are blessed with Safari which has had a in-built spell checker for years now which spell checks as you type.

I have no problem with any member who spells badly or even makes the odd mistake.

I get sick of hearing about that and just ignore it too.

If anybody wants to know how to spell a particular word, just (Google-it)

Click on this:- http://www.google.co.uk/

then, type in a word like (hieght) in the search box, "which I have spelt wrong, by the way", then click: Google Search.

After that, in the top left hand corner, it will say:- (Did you mean, Height) That is the correct spelling!!!!

That is what I do occasionally.

Or try:-

TIBB doesn't need a spell-checker, in my opinion...

I didn't realise so many browsers have spell checkers, does Internet Explorer 7 have a spell checker?

There is a spell checking add on called ieSpell for internet explore 5.0 onwards that is free and can be downloaded from here:

http://www.iespell.com/

I have never tried it so I can't comment on how good it is.

If you click reply on a thread, then at the bottom beside the "Post Reply" button I see a check spelling option...

It's a bit odd in that it checks words against both an American and British dictionary so you can spell colour in both the American and British form.

But it better than nothing at all which is what most Internet Explorer users have to put up with.

Wow, this forum just keeps getting better! Personally I didn't realise that so many browsers had spell-checkers... I use Internet Explorer 7 though, so I don't have that privilege. I tend to be conscious of spelling with or without a spell-checker. I wouldn't have noticed this change to the forum immediately though, since I tend to use the quick-reply at the bottom of the page also - but I definitely think it's a good addition and will be of use to members.
