Yeah, it was shame about Hedwig, Fred and Lupin :(

At least none of the trio died though.. Somehow, I thought at least one of them would. Aww it's all over now.. Guess we'll just have to wait for the films!

I know. I was so sure Ron would die because I heard a pretty convincing rumour about it. So glad he didn't though.

So, this is what I thought of the final book. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, so highlight the text if you want to read.

Oh my god the last book was so sad. Who else cried when Dobby the house elf died? I am still devestated! :bawling: All the deaths were very sad. I think there were too many, I was only expecting a few, not twenty! But I did think either Ron or Hermione and possibly Harry might die, so I'm so glad they survived. It was horrible when I actually thought Harry would die at the end, but so relieved when he didn't. I never even realised Harry was a Horcrux! I didn't like how the book ended 19 years in the future though, that was a bit dissapointing. It's rather annoying how Harry ended up with Ginny, as I've always found her bratty. But I'm really pleased that Ron and Hermione got together, as I always knew they would! Overall the book was very good, although I still can't forgive JK.Rowling for all the deaths, especially Dobby. It's no way my favourite Harry Potter book as there wasn't enough of Hogwarts, and I reeally missed that. I was convinced that Dumbledore wasn't really dead, and was so dissapointed to find out he really is :( I like it when Harry spoke to Dumbledore on the 'other side' though and to the others who died. I'm rambling way to much now lol so I'm going to stop. All I will say is I'm so sad the books have ended because I have been reading them for 10 years now. I will read them all again soon :)

Awww, I enjoyed that read Gemma.

I was shocked at Dobbin too, he's so innocent, and I just pictured his big wide eyes as he died, such a loss. :bawling: There were too many deaths yeah, but I guess it was to show how big this battle was, and how powerful Voldemort is. I was shocked at Fred. It was obvious a Weasley would go though, there are too many of them to keep. Ron and Hermione was coming and we all expected it, but Ginny and Harry is just annoying. It was also sad seeing them taking their kids to Hogwarts, just reminds us of how everything they did is over, and it's time for new 'adventures'. :sad:The epilogue was disapointing, didn't really tell us much on how everyone got on after the battle. She has revealed it though so that's good. Plus she's doing an encyclopedia on everything, so we have that to look forward too. I'm going to miss the books so much, they've been a massive part of my life for ages now. Still got two films though, so yay.

I know, it was just too sad and it was such a loss. If it wasn;t for Dobby they would have all been dead, and that just makes it even worse because he didn't deserve it! It probably sounds stupid, but I have been depressed for days over that =( I was shocked at Fred's death too, that happened very suddenly and I didn't expect it at all. How is George going to run the joke shop alone? But I always had a bad feeling it would be one of the Weasley's in this book. And I'm glad you agree about Ginny and Harry. I don;t think they were ever suited, and them together is just strange, Ginny was never a main or interesting character and until the 6th book she didn't have much of a role in the books and still doesn't really so I was dissapointed. I agree the end was really sad, and that it didn't tell us enough, I still don't like how it was ended so much in the future, but oh well  The problem I am still so curious about so many things I probably will never find out. I heard about the encyclopedia, I can't wait! Hopefully that will fill in some gaps. I won't be reading the last book again for a long time or maybe never, because I can;t bear another week of feeling like ****. That's how depressed I am over it and it won;t be nice to go through that again. It probably sounds pathetic but I always get attached to the characters on books and so many have died it's just terrible. Have you heard of the councelling for those grieving over the last book? I thought it was funny when I first heard it but now I understand it. And omg, I havent even seen the new film yet, but I'm really excited about it. I think they kind of spoil the books to be honest, but they are still great films.

Never say never but it well and truley looks impossible.

If you ask me , critics look in to more about HOW books are written when they should be looking at WHAT they are written about.

Story wise , character wise , page turner wise , Harry Potter kicks the absoloute **** out of his dark materials and the lord of the rings.

They're just stories of like how Glinda and Elphaba (wicked witch of the west), like how they used to be good friends and how they broke friends etc. Not really my cup of tea, but suppose i could always give them a try.

Exactly... I'll just have to keep going over past books and movies, but it's still sad.
Especially considering we pretty much grew up with Harry Potter, and it was so good!
Oh well... I'm sure we'll cope ...

Well, I completley disagree with you. IMO the Harry Potter books are the best books in the whole wide world.

I think the films do not do the books justice, i'm just glad they are doing the final film in 2 parts. I've always said this too my mum, that minus for the first 3 which were easy since the books were so small, that all the films should of been wither 4-5 hours long or been split into 2. Or if that wasn't commercial release the full 5 hour movie on dvd and do a directors cut for the cinema.
The books are amazing and teach children about discrimination, good and bad, love and really important things like that, and when reading the last book I always thought how it closely ties into racism, with muggles being treated like dirt because they were muggles.

Those books are like the best books ever ive read them all. JKs so clever! But the films are great too but it must be hard to fit all the parts from the book into a 2 hour slot.. maybe they should make the film 3 hours lol. Im also glad that the DH has been split into 2 films aswell x

I've finished the 7th book yesterday and I have to say it's the best one ever, even if I am kinda disappointed by the ending, I expected something more spectacular.
About the films, generally it's not really great because they remove some big parts of the book which don't explain what happens next.

Shaun

I've been re-reading the last book recently as well, because I feel like I skipped parts the first time round.

Why oh why did they have to kill Hedwig  Mindless violence I tell ye!

Me either, I hope it's an amazing trailer. All five trailers have been great, my favorite one was for Goblet of Fire, I loved the music.

Is there going to be 2 films for the final book, so they can fit in everything what happens?
I am sure I have read that somewhere.

Callum

Yeah it's been split in two to make sure they don't miss anything out.

In the picture of Harry in Dumbledores office, he's holding Dumbledores wand, pretty spine chilling, when you know just how powerful the wand is.

I dont get why people say that harry potter is the worse book ever, i think the popularity proves that its not. Some people just dont like reading to something everyone else does, because they think they are special :P

I do agree that the films are rubbish though... the only decent ones are the first 2, but they were the smallest books so it makes sense.

I agree, the films are crap, when you think how much was missed out from the 5th book, that really annoyed me, it was the one film that I was looking forward to, coz its probably my best book of the series.

i like the films better, yeah they miss a lot out but i still enjoy them, i'm glad the 5th one missed a lot out coz thats the most boring book of the series.

I dont think the 5th book was boring. It got the overall plot going much much quicker if you know what I mean. We discover why Voldermort hunted down Harry's mum and dad, and such. The capters in which they were at the Ministry were just great! And in Dumbledores office at the end, with the shouting fit Harry has. I thought the 5th book was brilliant.
