Heated debates get locked.

No, but yes. (I sound like Lauren from Catherine Tate).

I think it's a lot more argumentative and always teetering on the edge of arguments and accusations. But members are still super-friendly.

Not really.

But I do admire the fact that the admins/mods try to make the forum a really good place to be, and that they take time to look after the place.

~Kizwiz~
29-07-2007, 09:54 PM
There are various reasons for my lack of input.

Personal reasons being one and the change in the site mainly. It just seems so negative and I aint pointing the blame anywhere, its just how I feel.

This site holds so many memories for me, especially becasue of Red Moon and I but I just cant face it somedays.

No but its not certain people. Im not sure what it is.
I think it was like really amazing last year when I didnt have ANYONE on my MSN and just had fun and messed about and had the odd debate.

But now for me the novelties worn off, but i cant stay away
I speak to everyone on MSN, debate with people on MSN

I think all the new members who joined this year will enjoy it loads, then next year they'll feel the same, and so on..

On the whole yes.I like most of the members and the chat in the general section of the forum but I've not really enjoyed posting as much about BB this year, whether it's the standard of debate or just not as much of an interesting series, I'm not sure.

I feel of late the humour has returned to the forum which has not always been there in recent months. Some take stuff too literally.

Ill have to agree with Dan I mean I still enjoy posting in the general chat bit sport, music, tv etc but not so much in the BB bit. I think thats why i like posting most in the post BB bit rather than when BB is on if that makes sense

For me, TIBB is not much different from when I first joined here. Of course, there have been new members arriving and a small amount disappearing, but apart from that, it is business & pleasure as per-usual..

There will be problems which occur from time to time and we can thank a heavily moderated forum for sorting out problems, "as and when they arrive."

Naturally, if any members can pass on information to a mod or admin about grievances they may have with a member or suspicions, etc.. etc.. also about anything else problematic which affects the forum in anyway, it can eventually lead to a problem ending or lessening, depending on, "who it is" & "what it is", of course?

I know that this is the best Big Brother forum in my opinion and no matter what problems happen, the forum and the members and the management continue onward, regardless.

This forum has been here for a long time and for anyone wishing to leave, the door is always open. But, most stay, because they know it is the right thing to do:thumbs:

If it is ok to put my tuppence worth in as a newbie I'd say it's a pity I seem to have joined at a time of inter-forum friction/disaffection. The people who have deigned to speak to me have been pleasant enough, but I may not get a chance to see what the others are like at this rate.

Any forum member, new or old has the right to make a comment in any thread within this forum LadyMacbeth, so don't ever concern yourself about asking if it "is okay" to put your tuppence worth in as a newbie. I certainly welcome any honest reply and I am sure that is the same for the majority here.

There is plenty of inter-forum friction/disaffection on this forum.

Very recently, there was arguments over Chanelle on a thread and because passions went too far and arguments broke out, it had to be locked. (Silly stuff really?)

Hostilities which go from something like that, can reproduce on another thread and so on & so on & so on, depending on what & why....?

This thread seems to be quite negative sounding, but we have been here many times at TIBB and this is why talking it out, can sometimes be the best way? (But only sometimes), I might add:rolleyes:

Of course, every forum has problems and each forum has their own way of dealing with it.

Don't be disheartened by anything you see in this thread or other threads, or what anyone may say to you in the form of "Chinese Whispers", etc...

This forum is stronger than you or many other's think and regardless of what some defeatists may say, that this forum is less than it was or more moans & groans about negativity, etc.. it is totally untrue.

Stick with TIBB and in time, this thread will just pass like the wind, but some members will say negative stories and propaganda rubbish about (This forum has changed for the worse) Don't believe that!!!! It is untrue completely:mad:

Certain members do have problems with other members and that can cause problems within the forum at times, but it get's dealt with and that is guaranteed....

I hope your time here LadyMacbeth is a good one:thumbs:

Nothing has changed since I'm here (february 2006). All the members are great, even if sometimes we have arguments, but it's like in life, different opinions make people angry sometimes. TIBB is the first site I visit the morning, and it's always a pleasure. I enjoy reading it even if I don't post, sometimes I laugh and sometimes I want to defend my opinions. By the way, the members didn't judge me because I'm french and they don't nowadays and I apreciate that a lot, that's why I stay and I enjoy it. TIBB is the only forum where I am registered, it brings everything: Big Brother, games and friends.
Thanks for everything guys, it's always a pleasure to talk with you !

Okay...

Won't lock this because we'll just get accused of stopping freedom of speech or something... but I'm going to have my say...

Ah, this is a skewed poll if ever I saw one... it basically just invites people to say 'no'. The site could be only 1% less enjoyable than it used to be and a 'no' response would still be the accurate response.

And what if people want to say it is more enjoyable. And how come all the people that it is aimed at, and will vote no, registered at different times... so when was the 'golden era' then, two years ago, a year ago, 6 months ago, last week?

Or what if they found it more enjoyable last month and less enjoyable the month before etc. etc. etc.

And inevitably over time some people just lose interest, that doesn't mean there is any fault with the forum or the way in which it is run.

The overall effect is to talk down the site to anyone who views it, and I don't like that, not least cause I have put some work into it. All I can say is that I've been on this site for five years and, although nothing stays the same - and the types and numbers of members (and posts made) have changed a lot since the time I joined - I am still enthusiastic.

25 regular members, I dont think that is the case at all, there are regular members that post only in certain areas of the site, doesnt make them any less important.

If I am honest, I do enjoy it here immensely most of the time. I post the news stories, chat with other members, and try to keep it mostly lighthearted. I have had my off days when certain members have annoyed me, and said some things, but I am sure you are mainly all aware of my feelings in that respect. I am no angel, and I may have upset people in the process. Some I don't care about tbh, but others I do, and for that I am sorry.

I love 99% of the members on here, and dont know what I'd do without the place, but I do feel certain members get away with far too much. But that's just my opinion.

Everyone's probably been annoyed by someone at some point, that's life. People will have different views or opinions, and you must respect that. Most people forgive and forget cause they know it's the internet, you can't hold a grudge against someone on the net.

Sometimes some people annoy me, and I feel like logging off for good. Then I realise it's the net, and come back - because why I should be angry at someone I don't know. That's why people who said no, still post in my opinion. If it is certain members that have made people vote 'no'.

I totally agree with you. Some members have sniped at me, and I have sniped at other members, but it all gets forgotten about mainly, and life on the forum goes on. I don't hold grudges generally. If I did, I most probably wouldn't be talking to some members. Lol. I can screw up just as good as the next person, but some members do hold grudges.

I do however think I mainly respect other peoples opinions, and it may be the net, but when you visit here most days, I can see why some members can get fed up with it.

This is just my opinion.

I know that some members are a bit upset with Big Brother 8 at times and have complained about it being boring.

But, they are trying everything they can to spice up the show, Fake-Weeks, Halfway-House + loads more, but it will end soon and then it will be the wait for the next Celebrity Big Brother, (if there is one?)

Things that do occur on this forum can be related to what happens in the Big Brother house. We know how housemates get upset and argue and also be very nice too.

People on TIBB, People on BB8 [not too different really...]

This forum will have it's up's and down's, but for me & many, many other members, it is a daily port-of-call :hello:

Unfortunately, the downside of Big Brother, with the voting housemates out every week and public opinion being so important (which is also its greatest strength), is there is always going to be differences of opinion and arguments on forums. We just have to get by best we can.

I think another thing that has to be pointed out about people losing interest in forums is that, for a lot of people, it is quite a big step to get involved in a forum in the first place - you often have to very interested in what is being discussed before you join. And quite often they don't find the BB series that follows [the one that they were hooked on] to be as good, so they lose interest in the forum as well.

They might still watch the show, and enjoy it, but they don't like it enough now to post about it on an Internet forum. I know that is the case of a lot of members who joined around the same time that I started posting here.

I come on every day, sometimes I enjoy the site and sometimes I don't. I'm happiest when people get on with me and say nice things about my posts, sometimes even people acknowledging them in a positive way is enough for me to feel good about myself. I don't like it when people are nasty and say things that I may take hard, or if my posts are ignored in favour of someone else's.

I agree with James, I think the reason I don't enjoy(loosely based term, I still LOVE it here) it as much is because my interest in BB has dipped as years have gone by. But as a forum I still love it as much.

I love 99% of the members on here too and there is nothing better than being on a busy BB forum.

Quiet BB forums are very boring, waiting & waiting for someone to appear:bored:

TIBB is busy and that just goes to show what a success it is.

I haven't been on this forum for more than a few months, so I've no way of knowing what it's been like in the past or in it's finest moments, but with the wording of the OP's question, it tends to invite anyone to answer/comment who's been a member since even the most recent times. I think the question would be better directed at a particular group, namely the group who were around when the forum was as enjoyable as when the OP is implying it was, that’s just my opinion.

I agree with this comment...

this is a skewed poll if ever I saw one... it basically just invites people to say 'no'.

Surely, we are all waiting for our next "most enjoyable spell" of posting?

The option of 'no' is obviously most appealing, and I'm sure there's more who avoid the poll altogether rather than be pressured into a 'yes', regardless of how good the site atmosphere is; that just seems like a logical assumption to me, particularly dealing with a subject so varied as Big Brother. Personally, if I have nothing to say about the show, I rarely log on the forum. That’s nothing to do with how good the forum is, it’s just a case of not having the necessary subject matter with which to write opinions on or interact with other posters. I understand that some members use different, more general, sections of the forum, but this is a site to cater for the Big Brother fanatics, is it not? The show itself must surely play an important role in the mood of the members?

As far as the site is concerned, in my opinion, it’s one of the best layouts around. Everything is very clear and easily accessible, there’s an abundance of features and options so that members may express themselves with personal touches to their profiles and it’s as good a basis as I’ve seen which might encourage a pleasant and peaceful posting community.

I get the feeling from the opening post that the poster has become naturally bored and disappointed with the site and is looking for people to share the sentiment with? If that was the purpose, I must offer my commendation on how it was almost made sure the goal was achieved. If I do find myself in this predicament, disappointed and losing interest in posting, on the chance I might recapture my sense of fun and enjoyment, I’d like to think I could come back and share it with the forum, eventually.

TIBB always needs some fun and the right kind of fun especially and you can easily provide it.

It is better to stay here and prove to anyone who thinks that TIBB is less than a great place, that they are wrong.

Im not amongst them , but thats the feeling im certianly getting [as evident by the completely unbiased poll with the option to pick a 'yes'].

Everyone here is really nice, and i dont think anyones been mean to me ever on this forum. I come on here every day, cuz its my first place for BB News and other stuff. I have a fresh new exemple about what I don't post a much, a member on the BB7 forum says I didn't watch the whole BB7 because I don't think it's more entertaining as BB5, this is just stupid and this member doesn't respect my opinion. So if I can't express my opinion, why I have to post here ? But I stay and I won't let some members like this one win and having the last word.

I am glad you've chose to ignore such members and keep posting here, as you're a good member and asset to the community.

There are some bad apples amongst the members that don't seem to want to accept other peoples opinions, but when you consider how large the community is - that is to be expected. I just hope we don't lose any other brilliant posters to this.

When I first joined back in 2005, I was one of the most active posters, as I'm sure many will agree. I made some great friends (Jamie, Laura, Fizz et all) and it was generally a good laugh.

Recently, However, It's been very argumentive and for some reason- I just haven't felt 'at home' in TiBB. Maybe its because I dont recongise at 80% of the posters who post now, or maybe its a diffrent reason entierelly.

I am having personal life struggles, so that also plays a big part in lack of posting lately.

Members who are banned and come back making threats hang like a malevolent odour over the forum. Not intent with spoiling things for themselves, they want to ruin things for everyone else too. I have been here over 8 months now and have seen many good members fall by the wayside. And because of these trolls, I find it very hard to trust new members. If I am honest, posting has become less enjoyable for me in some cases, hence I post much less now.

~Kizwiz~
02-10-2007, 12:35 PM
It does get frustrating when banned members cause havock, I dont understand it really. I mean, I've been on here for over 2 years and only got one warning, but for those constant offenders who get a lifetime ban for their warnings why do some feel the desperate need to come back and hide and become a different persona just to be on the site????

I find it rather sad and pathetic really that some put so much effort into concealing their identity??

But it wont drag me away from this place..... nothing much would ever do that it just creates a bad atmosphere that seems to have a knock on effect on the site and I wish that it didnt.

Mad4Maddie
02-10-2007, 01:08 PM
Yes, I wonder why banned members have to come back at all. *cough*

I mean, I can see the point in them coming back cuz someone dared them to, or just plainly to have a laugh, or because they happen to be a tad bored -

But let's face it people, it's the internet, and at the end of the day, we are font on a screen.

Anyone who takes it more seriously than that really needs their head looked at. Just enjoy the forum and ignore the numpties - that's my NEW philosophy.

However, the "malevolent odour" Barry speaks of (has he swallowed a dictionary today?) might have more to do with the kebab he ate at the weekend than this forum.

Just a thought.
