OMG, that bugs me off when he keeps saying "Sea".. instead of SHE.
this has got to be the greatest thread of ALL TIME ...I would'nt be surprised if this thread got thousands of replies!!!
It was obvious when he said "Cabnam" instead of "Shabnam" for his nominations.

He cant help it lmao
But it is quite funny
He also called Chanelle 'Sanelle'
lol it does annoy me as well. It annoyed when when he call Shabnam "Sabnem". He can't help it but it's annoying none the less.

Cut him some slack, he's Greek and he made the effort to learn English. I'd like to see you speak Greek with any where close to the same fluency as his English.

It' sonly because he's greek, sometimes I have the same problem when I pseak English with "although" or "thought". I wanted to say that Gerry is the most understandable housemate this year, his accent is brilliant for foreign people who are watching it.

I dont wanna be a bittch, but thats so petty. Thats a speach impairment. Its like making fun of someone who talks nasaly, or pronounces s with z. Its really, really petty to make a thread about that! And I hate Gerry by the waY!

i've heard he's not really Greek, he's a welder from Sherbourne in Dorset .. or, as Gerry says "Sirborn"!!!
.. and when he does speak Greek in the house, its actual Gibberish.

Some people don't like foreign accents ! For myself, everybody loves my little french-italian accent when I speak english. I'm actually in London during a week and my english family loves that.
It doesn't shock me how Gerry speaks, it's natural, he learnt the language, he can't have the natural accent.

And I know you didnt mean it in a nasty way, but look at the comments that follow. -This is why I am saying its not a good idea to open awhole thread,, about how someone looks, or speaks, because even if you mean it in a nice way, it justs opens an oportunity for ignorant bullies, to slate him and make derogatory comments. People don't need to speal fluent Greek in order to know why he does have an accent, it's stupid. You can see properly he has one, it's not complicated.

Why are you telling me? I already understand it. Different languages have different pronunciations that are hard to get out of. Spanish for example pronounce most J's as H's and C's as 'Th'.
You try to explain it to some and they still just think it's an impediment. They'd know if they were Greek. That's how I knew she couldn't speak it.

i dont think ALL Greek people say "C" instead of She .. its more to do with Gerry's lip shape
.. i think Richard and Judy should do a survey on this on tomorrows R & J show .. line up 6 random Greek people , and get them to say "SHE" !! ... I for one would be very interested to hear the results.

It's not to do with his "lip shape"... the Greek language has no 'sh' sounds, and so he finds it difficult to pronounce it - without feeding your controversial ego, thats racism. Cut it out.

I have 2 Greek teachers and Greek family. Depends which part of Greece they come from, but generally as they haven't been brought up to pronounce "Sh's" in their language, it's hard from them to pronounce - some can, most can't. You're picking up on a feature that only one race does, and then using it negatively.

I agree, it’s just like here in Ireland, a lot of people can’t (or for some reason don’t) pronounce "Th"….. so instead of saying “This”, “Third” and “That” they end up saying “Dis”, “Turd” and “Dat”.
It’s just accents, every country has one!

Exactly, with English as his second language I think Gerry is doing great, He has a much better command of the English language than Charley did, and isn’t English her first language?
Also going by the spelling and grammar from some of the posts on this thread, I don’t think people in Glass Houses should throw stones.

OMG, you all must stop it! You are acting like complete ignorants. Unless you dont care. Because one greek guy pronounce it correctly in your kebab shop, only means that he is assimilated more than another regular greek guy. When someone is telling you something clear about a culture, that they cant pronounce sh in the greek language, maybe you should just say, oh really, well I didnt know that, my bad. But you try to justify it, by bringing in one example of one person who can do it? Are you guys just ignorant, or do you not care how ridiculous you come off right now? I wouldnt call it racism, I would say ignorance, but if after people gave you clear explaination, you carry on the same, you sure are racist! And I feel sorry for you!
