Personally I think that the name shoud be kept. The cat is already 3 and has an established name.

I got 2 cats from the cats protection and I was advised that they were too old to change their names and it would add to their confusion

I am not a fan of changing animals names, but if you "must" then you should give it something that has a similar sound to it's original one.

Whatever name you pick just make sure you won't get bored of it in 6 months time and want to change it again. If the name matters that much go with something YOU like rather than other people that way you can be 100% happy with it.

Another Tip: Call it something you will be comfy calling out infront of people including vets etc...some animals I know have truely awful names and then go and tell the vet the animals called bob to save face lol.
