Hollyoaks anorexia storyline

What do you think about a major Soap showing something as serious as anorexia, especially a teen soap? Do you think it's good that it will boost awareness of the issue? or do you think it's wrong and that they should not be giving "tips" on how to lose weight to teenagers.

Later this year one of the two girl involved in the anorexia storyline, Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby), will die after she takes it too far.

I actually think they're presenting the issue in a realistic light (bar the "wanting to be a model" form of anorexia). I think it's important to shed light on the issue to teenagers who may think it's just a 'get slim quick' way of dieting. They do it in a very responsible way because most of the time dedicated to it, is dedicated to showing the negative effects of it.
Had they shown Hannah getting slim, being happy, and being a successful model - then that would have been irresponsible of them, and would be presenting anorexia as a positive thing to do. However, they show her being sick, looking faint, fainting, passing out, looking gaunt, losing friends - quite realistic for how anorexia can affect people.

I never knew she dies! But I think they're addressing this problem amongst teens very well. It should make at least some people watching think twice about that way to diet.

I think they are doing it very weel. With the things like Melissa's hair falling out and such. It is quite realistic. I can't believe Hannah dies :sad:

OMG nooooo not hannah it should be melissa cos evere since hannah started hanging around melissa her condition went overboard, oh i'm sad i really like hannah the storyliners shouldn't let her die they should show her getting help and getting better so people who having eating conditions like hannah and melissa can get help :bawling:

I don't watch Hollyoaks but I'm glad a popular soap is bringing this issue to light (in a realistic way I have heard).

I think it's sad that she's going to die, even if I did want her out of the soap because she was racking my nerves.
It's a good storyline though, much better than most soaps.
It's why I love hollyoaks.
It deals with things properly, how most soaps wouldn't dare because of the reputation.
Like homosexuality.
JP, Craig &Spike show real problems that can occur in homosexuality.
Whereas Corrie was like 'I'm gay, bye girlfriend, yay boyfriend, bye soap' >.<
&there was outrage about that.

BUT BACK ON TOPIC.
I think it does boost awareness of the issue.

I read in the newspaper today that Melissa collapses and dies after a night out with Hannah on 29 August.

I wanted the stuck up bitch to be the one that died so sad its good it shows us girls and some boys how dangerous is to starve ourselves for a job or to look like someone else chanelle should watch it as she wants to look like posh and she is nothing posh is like 32 wheres chanelle only 19 she should be careful <3

I think this is such a sad storyline that is being portrayed well by the actors involved. The producers are managing to get in most of the negative affects this awful illness has on young people. I hope that young lads are watching as well as they are equally susceptible to fall foul of this illness.
