(just so we dont clog up the Ghosts thread)

Where do you go when you die?
do you not exist?
do you go to heaven?
are you reborn?
are you a ghost?
do you go somewhere different altogether?

I would love to hear your opinions

I believe your reborn into things like animals, insects..etc I just can't see a place in the clouds where your spirit lives on. Ghosts on the other hand IMO are people who want to live on, can't accept death, can't leave life, so their spirit stays in a place they've spent their lives.

It's what I believe so don't bother posting shxt on how Science says otherwise or something. :bored:

I already covered this in the ghost thread but I'm gonna do it again

I don't believe in life after death as in, you haunt places where you lived etc etc.

I have two theories, the first, I believe, is more realistic but idealistic. I believe that with each new place we go, we make our mark and impact places, other people, the overall energy of somewhere. It's like this when we die - our body (the vehicle for the soul, I believe) simply rots in the ground (unless you're cremated haha). However, I believe our soul is separate and once we die we have a residual energy that stays with the places and people we impacted, as if we've left OUR mark on the World. It's like a memory, but an actual energy change. I'd also like to think that if we make our mark on a specific person and impact their life in a big way, our residual energy becomes a "guardian" of some sort, making good energy (I sound like such a crackpot!).

The second is a lot less realistic, but can explain things such as ghosts. When we die our soul moves into another plane, our body rots in the ground. This is why people see ghosts because energy changes on Earth can cause the planes to double cross paths and so this can explain why some ghost sightings include time captures etc.

Btw, I'm not religious at all. I think it all comes down to energies.

Yeah. But you get all them shows about spirits staying as ghosts because they still have things to do. (Not sure about that myself.)

It's just something no one will ever know until they die. I don't think they'll ever be proof to make any idea true.

EDIT: Sorry about your daughter Jackie. :(

Can I just say, I know it won't be any help to you, but I found a lot of solace in it...

A family member of mine (my cousin, he was 15) was stabbed in the neck a year or so back and it severed a main vein and he was bleeding loads. When he was on the hospital bed apparently he died at one point for quite a while and they were about to call his death when his heart started again.

Afterwards he spoke to me about it, and he said it was the happiest, most calming feeling ever. He told me that it was like everybody he loved in the world had hugged him all at once and he knew everything was going to be okay - this is apparently when he died. After hearing this I am no longer worried about dying at all, and I think this is what dying is like. This story really helps me if I ever need to grieve a loss.

I hope that's really true. If it is then death isn't something to worry about. But for me it's HOW you're going to die which I'm most scared about.

It would be great to go to heaven (somewhere) and catch up with family, friends and a lot of angels too. I don't think this idea is that possible though.

I believe that when we die that is pretty well that. However, I am a little curious about why we dream and I like to hope that this is in fact the development of our spirit and soul for the life after. In other words when we die we go into a dream state where our lives pass before us and goes on for ever, but please don't ask me to prove that. lol

I think that the only reason I give this idea any credibility at all is simply from the stories that one hears of people who go past death, as medically defined, and yet return to survive and express similar thoughts and visions.

EDIT . (To jackie 46) I particularly wanted to also express my sincere sadness about the loss of your daughter. This must have been terrible for you.

Mmmmm. Excellent post. I love those well thought out theories and hope at least some are reality.

Although I am a sceptic by nature I can't help having a great deal of empathy with the theory of some sort of re-encarnation or perhaps it's just wishfull thinking on my behalf.....

I have a very old relation who used to be a personal friend of a well known medium in the 60's. She and her husband are rock solid convinced of an after life..... Me I am still sceptical as the way mediums perform could just be a specialist in mental illusions....I only ever saw him once and was not convinced.....However there was something about him (the look in his eyes mainly) that was quite chilling.......

When you die ...well thats it.

But there is a theory I have read about that explains life after death - in a way.

Humans use less than 10% of their brains potential, apparently no human has ever used more - at death, the most traumatic moment of your life all the brains synapses fire, rapidly in sequence - as a kind of self defence mechanism.

Esssentially giving you a final dream, and in the few seconds that it lasts in the real world, you can live "forever" in your dream world.

Accepting the fact that we all become either ash or worm food - I kind of like that idea

Time is relative, moreso in a subconscious experience where it becomes subjective

"forever" is not forever

This is an interesting subject Chewy. I would like to think that there is life after death and that things go on further than - life as we know it. But to ever find proof of that simply won't ever happen, so it is a guessing game. Going to heaven is what we would want to believe and when many of us read the holy bible, that is reason enough for us to believe that theory. Looking at the book of revelations in the bible, also gives us the theory that we may go to the other place - hell, but many consider it to be just a nice story book and others look to it as the true meaning to everything and shall consider nothing else but going to heaven when we die and God & Jesus ready to meet us when our lives here ends. Regarding Ghosts, I believe in them, even though I have never experienced anything like some people have claimed to do
