A new controversial reality TV show has been planned for Channel 4 which will see a group of "self-declared attractive people" compete to win £10,000.

Vanity Lair will start with 10 contestants moving into a luxury house in London and each week new arrivals will try and win their way into the mansion.

Each new member will have to convince the rest of the house that they are the most "attractive" in order to stay in or be kicked out.

Former Popworld presenter Alexa Chung will host the programme, which would be the first big role she has taken on board since signing an exclusive deal to Channel 4 earlier this month.

Vanity Lair will fill the Shipwrecked slot on Sunday evenings later this year.

Executive producer, Drew Pearce, said: "The series hopes to explore contemporary notions of what being a beautiful person really means."

Channel 4 is to launch a new reality show which has been nicknamed Big Brother for beautiful people.

The show will see 10 self declared highly attractive people, live in a house together and compete for a £100,000 prize. T4 presenter Alexa Chung will host the show.

Channel 4 deputy commissioning editor, Sangeeta Bhaskar, said: “Vanity Lair will give us an fascinating insight into the notion of what makes someone beautiful through a series of unique and entertaining experiments across a 10-week period.

“Beauty is subjective and through this series we hope to challenge the viewer’s notions of what constitutes being attractive, whether it be based on looks, humour or charm.”

Due to hit our screens later this year, Vanity Lair will air in the Shipwrecked slot on Sunday evenings, with a repeat during T4 on weekend mornings.
