Talk about C4's new reality show here!

Starting on Sept. 3rd :thumbs2:

Dumped is a television first.

Eleven unsuspecting volunteers are left marooned on one of Britain's biggest landfill sites for three weeks. Their challenge? To survive off the rubbish the rest of us have thrown out.

The participants have willingly agreed to take part in a testing eco-challenge but they don't know where. Most have assumed that they will be dropped into a pristine natural environment like the Amazonian Rain Forest or the Arctic. How will they react when they are delivered to a huge, smelly British landfill site where they are forced to make a home from other people's waste?

We Brits are a nation of greedy consumers. Most of us have some idea that we waste too much and don't recycle enough, but we tend not to think about what happens to our rubbish once it has left our homes. So, how will our volunteers cope when bought face to face with the sheer scale of the typical British landfill?

Can they turn the grime and pong of 1000 tonnes of rubbish into a precious resource? Will they manage to eek out a living? Will they be surprised at the quality of life they can carve out of unwanted waste? And will their experience make them think about their own lifestyles? Watch Dumped to find out.

I did a search and found pictures of the contestants. I've posted them below, along with the first name of the contestant according to the names of the images I downloaded.

NOTE: I got these pictures from a Channel 4 source, so the names are likely to be correct, but they could have named the pictures with fake first names to throw us off the scent.

I also found this additional image:

I am not sure as to whether this is a contestant or not, because Arneldo's extract says eleven contestants are taking part, but he's not in the group shot?

More press materials, this time in the form of a press extract:

In the ultimate TV recycling challenge, ten members of the public will be living on one of Britain’s biggest rubbish dumps 24/7 for three weeks. Everything they eat, wear, shelter under or use will have to come from other people’s rubbish.

Dumped aims to highlight the huge amount of food, clothing and other goods needlessly thrown away in the UK every day. Stripped across a week, the series follows the participants as they try to lead relatively normal lives using just what we throw away. It will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the Autumn.

From teenagers to 40-somethings, the participants will be living the ultimate recycling lifestyle. Many of them have never given a second thought to what they chuck out before, and the project will bring them face-to-face with the reality of Britain’s rubbish mountains.

Filmed on a real rubbish dump in Britain, the participants health and safety will be carefully monitored throughout the project, and they will be free to leave at any point if they want to.

Andrew Mackenzie, Commissioning Editor Factual Entertainment, says: “By showing how much we all throw away, proving that it’s possible to survive on other people’s rubbish and giving tips on how everyone can lead a more recyclable life, the series aims to make a change in the way that the participants, and viewers, live. Some of the tasks may be pretty gross, but in compensation they will find that even the finer things in life can be catered for - with the amount of perfectly-useable luxury goods that gets thrown away.”

I'm not sure if I like it at the moment, It's very self righteous and patronising, I know about Climate change and I do my bit but i hate it being forced down my throat every two seconds.

I give them props though, I'd have taken one look at the dump and got right back on the coach, I wouldn't live in rubbish.

I hope you recycle and live a very green lifestyle, otherwise you have no right to say that.

I am not tuning in again because I found it boring, I think it's a good format though.

I'm not watching it for the format, I just watch it for the people and any form of ''drama'' in it.

I liked it though.

Yawn. I just cant see myself watching anymore of it. Also notice the slight camera trickery of using the landfill for most of the impressive pick up shots while the contestants are actually living out in a relativly small , controlled 'Dump' adjacent to it.

I was confused when they mentioned "He's been trying to cheer Sacha up" and I was like...who?
