i think what he means is Liam does this to Sam all the time ant twins fans see it as cute but when Brian does it to Amanda the twins fans hate Brian for it

so the only thing that sets them apart is that Liams white and Brians black!

That's because Brian grips and doesn't let go (Not literally).
Brian acts as if he is obsessed with her, which is why it's quite creepy when he does it.
