The Most Unwelcoming Forum I've Ever Visited

I have to say I've been on many unfriendly forums in my time, but have usually recieved some sort of welcome by at least one forum member. I asked somebody for a banner yesterday and all I got was "I don't make banners for anyone who hasn't 100+ posts."

I'll probably recieve a torrent of insults for this (and possibly a ban), but I think it's rude not to at least say "Welcome to the forum."

Am I alone in my opinion?

I think the person who refused to make your banner clearly thinks he is "too good" to be making banners for new people. which I think is unfair.

But...

I think he put that rule up as he gets a lot of requests and doesn't like to make banners for people who he thinks may not stay for long on the forum. You get a lot of members on this forum who stay for about a week then leave, I think he just doesn't want to make loads of banners for them people.

TopzTom, I joined this form a couple of months ago and I've always felt welcomed and I welcome you too.

It is the members who make a forum. The good ones who do not want to cause conflict are the ones I tend to post around and I ignore the ones who are there to cause hassle. Simple rules and they work as there are mostly good people here.

Yeah, so I think you shouldn't take it personally. I am hosting TiBB Does The Apprentice, and I didn't want anyone in the show under 500+ posts to be in it. The reason being , members pass and go, and most only stay on for the duration of Big Brother. I didn't want people signing up who might leave.

A lot of hard work goes into banner making and he is very busy with requests, so dont worry!

Which is exactly the reason I'm not taking requests from users with less that 100 posts. As I said in the thread when I added the new rule:

Tom, I thought long and hard about introducing that rule. I knew it would pee some members off, but some people register, request banners, make one or two posts and then forget TiBB ever existed. Others may register to get banners then nick them for their websites, MySpace profiles, etc. and it was because of these types of people that I introduced that rule.

I hope we can still be friends :wink:

I joined a few days ago and been made to feel very welcome by most posters on here.

if you want rude forums i can name plenty and this one is definately not one of them

I like the way this forum is presented and it seems welcoming to me. It makes a fine change from talking Oasis, which I was doing a couple of hours ago on another forum. Big Brother is a great show and I enjoy talking about that. It is a shame it's ending soon LeKevin, but there again, it has dragged a bit - so what the hell eh?

I was okay on the last eviction night. But I saw a topic on this forum which said something about trying to beat the most members on the forum ever in one night?? and the amount was crazy in comparison to what is normally on here, so I just expect for most of us to perhaps be struggling to get online or flick though the various topics? I imagine it is just - wait and see time Matt?

Anyway - this place is welcoming , if you give it a chance. Its welcoming albeit in an intimidating way , what with all the members who have 10000+ posts , but you will soon fit in.

And if any member gives you hell , give them hell back :bigsmile:.

As for the targetting of , I wish the people doing the REAL targetting would grow a pair and drop a name.

Making a banner takes hard work and its something they do for free.... I have been in the situation many times where I have made a banner for people and did didnt even get used.

So I know where matt is coming from about making sure members are dedicated to TiBB before putting effort into making something

Dont forget he doesnt have to do it..... and he does it for free

Tom don't speak too soon, we have some crazy members members too. Most of them are gentle and harmless and and I'm sure pisshead will be banned again eventually. :whistle: Others can be rude and aggressive and generally not nice to be around. That's the same as in all walks of life sadly but I suppose we just have to learn to get along.

We use the IP addresses of user to check if they are real member and not banned members. Banned members tend to use somnething called a proxy server so we don't know who they are. It hides there I/P address. Chances are BB6:thebest! is a banned member.
