View Full Version : Teen Big Brother is under way!
Story from the official C4 website
The BB House is one of the most famous abodes in the UK, but life doesn't stop for those four walls after the housemates depart.
In fact immediately after Cameron disappeared, there was time for a quick polish and dust (Steph had made sure the floor had been thoroughly swept!) before a new set of inmates would be choosing their beds.
That's right - Teen Big Brother began on 30th July where a bunch of hand-picked teenagers will be causing mayhem for 10 whole days - how will the house cope?
Unlike the main Big Brother show, Teen BB is not streamed live. It will be coming to Channel 4 early 2004.
After those no-doubt energetic teens are removed, the production team can finally get their hands on the fixtures and fittings.
Read the rest of the story, which is mainly about the BB House being available for hire for corporate functions, HERE (http://bigbrother.channel4.com/bigbrother/news/newsstory.jsp?id=5374).
Interesting to hear that the Teen Big Brother show WILL be shown on C4 next year!

I think the reason for that would be because they dont want people to be overdosed with Big Brother.
I'll be watching this, should be interesting. Teenagers can be very entertaining!!:flower:

but its not typically teenagers as yuo think it's only 18 year olds not 19 or 17 but just 18 x Should be interesting to watch hey Kaz!
Definitely, Stu.
It does seem a bit odd, though that all the teenage housemates will be 18 years old. A mixture of younger and older teens might have been more 'entertaining'.
Personally, if someone mentions teenagers I tend to think of the 13-17 age range . . . . . . to me an 18 year old (although technically still a teenager, I know!) is a young adult.
Maybe I'm just weird, though. :spin2:
I think why they chose 18 years old, was probably for legal reasons
When do applications for BB5 come out - its usually around Xmas time isnt it?
- Mark
You're probably right, Mark.
I don't know for definite when the application period for BB4 started, but for BB3 it was on the 14th December . . . . . so you're not far away by saying around Xmas time!

And it's over. . . . .
Filming finished on Friday the 8th august.
The show according to Endemol staff is going to be a huge sucess.
They are glad it's not going out live as it's been said that it would have completley overshadowed BB4 in terms of viewing entertainment.
The winner was decided by housemates voting as opposed to a live vote.

Nope, they wouldn't look at taking 18 year olds now, after they have just done teen BB.

Actualy they would certainly look at taking 18 year olds, my son was one of the teen BB housemates and was told he could apply for BB5, he wont as 10 days in the house was enough for him, he couldnt stand 10 weeks of it, they said the teen bb programme was very successful and are seriously thinking of making another one, this time they would stream it live, we have been told it will be funny and very entertaining, some people thought that it would be a house full of dopy 18 year olds laying around asleep all day, well from what I have been told that is far from the truth, I was phoned everynight my son was in the house to tell me what he was doing and how he had been, and I have heard some very interesting stuff that has gone on in there, you will just have to wait untill January to see it all.
Welcome to TiBB Animal and Internet Susie.
Susie, I'm really looking forward to seeing Teen BB, it sounds very entertaining. How brilliant that your son was one of the housemates. What sort of selection proceduer did they have for it? What did he have to do to earn his place?

well, seeing as susie has admitted to being the mother of a contestant, it's only fair that I tell you i'm her son thus the brother of one of the contestants
Selection was done Via application forms from the channel 4 website, then different auditions during june/july to narrow it down to the final 8 as 20,000 applied to enter, final selection was confirmed by psychology analysis to judge mental suitability
all they had to do to earn their places was be themselves and in my (maybe bias) opinion they couldn't have done a better job
Hello, Animal and internetsusie - welcome to Tibb! :wavey:
How fantastic that your brother/son was one of the contestants on Teen Big Brother!
I was really pleased to hear that this programme will be shown on C4 after all. It'll be interesting to see how the teens react to the BB experience, i.e. whether it brings out the best or the worst in them!
Thanks for letting us know that it'll be shown next January.
