View Full Version : Ziggy: Ziggy Racism Row (Article)

BOSSES at Channel 4 covered up shocking footage of Big Brother favourite Ziggy calling a housemate a "n*****".

We can reveal the sensational scene and its aftermath were completely HIDDEN from viewers of the racism-plagued TV show.

At 10pm on Thursday night Ziggy Lichman—who came fourth in the final— took a drink from a housemate, saying: "Thanks, my trigger n*****." Although the comment was not directed at BB8 winner Brian Belo, who is black, he was nearby at the time.

Ziggy feared he would be booted off Big Brother immediately, just like Emily Parr who was kicked out earlier in the series for using the same word.

As well as apologising to Brian, Ziggy spent most of the night talking through the incident in the Diary Room.

However, to avoid another racism row, TV chiefs decided to edit the whole thing from the show.

Last night Ziggy said: "I apologised to Big Brother. It was lyrics from a song and never my intention to cause offence to anybody."

A Channel 4 spokeswoman admitted to ALL of our revelations.

I do; he should have been removed. And I bet Emily cares as well...

I'd like to point that that she didn't say it in a nasty way either (I know I sound like a crazy Emily fan, but I didn't really like her that much)

"racism-plagued TV show" LOL, it's less "racism-plagued" than normal society. BB provides a breather for us.

They should treat all HM's equally regardless, though - if this is infact true.

OMFG What a liberty. They took out one of teh best housemates and allowed HIM to stay in teh show. According to C4, they didnt thro him out cos he didnt mean offence (someone on DS quoted somethign) but they said to Emily she had been chucked out JUST for saying the word. OMG if emily doesnt take action I flaming will grrrrrrrr

Yeah I'd be furious if I was Emily!! You could tell how upset Emily was when she had to leave. I like Ziggy but that's very wrong of him, even if it wasn't aimed at Brian

I am also feeling the same way - as this is another tripe story over racism - once again targeting Big Brother and it's housemates, I think if it were true - Ziggy would have had to be thrown straight out, as it would have been unfair to Emily. Why should she get kicked out and not Ziggy? Naturally it would come out later and that just makes things very unfair to Emily. I do get fed up with these stories some times

To be fair them saying he didnt cause offence is true, even if Emily didnt

Emily was saying 'your pushing it out you ....' therefore the word she was using was meant as a word describing someone stupid. for eg 'your pushing it out you idiot' therefore she thinks that n***** means idiot. If you get me

However Ziggy was just saying thanks

Channel 4, however, said and made it VERY clear, that Emily had bene ejected simply for using teh word. They said that it wasnt the context it was used in, but the word itself. Certainly a case of double standards

I've only just discovered this after finishing my BB8 rewatch, and I think all this does is further reinforce how hard done by Emily was </3

From Digitalspy:

Ziggy was warned for using N-word

Sunday, September 2 2007, 11:31 BST

By Daniel Kilkelly
Ziggy was warned for using N-word

Big Brother producers reprimanded Ziggy Lichman for using a racially offensive word on Thursday night.

The former boyband star was drinking in the garden with his fellow housemates, when he said "trigger n*****" - a reference to a lyric by rapper 50 Cent.

Ziggy was called into the Diary Room and warned that he would be booted out of the house if he broke the rules again.

He then apologised to black housemate Brian Belo, who was present when he used the word. Brian told Ziggy not to worry, explaining: "We've lived with each other for 11 weeks and I know you're not like that."

A spokesman told the Sunday Mirror: "Channel 4 acted swiftly and appropriately to tell Ziggy that racially offensive language would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Ziggy was told that any further transgression would mean his immediate eviction.

"We gave careful consideration to the context of Ziggy's offence. Ziggy was repeating a lyric from a song and his words were not directed at anyone. Nobody in the house was offended and the incident was not broadcast, so no offence was caused to viewers."

Ziggy confirmed: "I apologised to Big Brother. It was purely lyrics from a song. It was never my intention to cause offence to anybody."

Emily Parr was ejected from the house for using the same word at the beginning of the series.

Ziggy finished in fourth place in the show's final on Friday night.
