I'm not sure a quiz is a forum feature.
A feature is something like karma etc

On another forum I go on, they have a little space (for us it'll be under location, posts etc) where they can write little notes.

Yeah, suppose. I know this sounds funny, but personally I would like to have a little buddy/animation like the little helpers you get for MS word; the dogs and cats etc. Someone who could tell you if you had new U2U's and posts on your thread etc, that'd would be awesome. :laugh:

That's true. It's a very big idea. The other team chose a podcast, and look where that got them. I don't think we can afford to make mistakes this week.
Maybe something simpler?

Maybe a small shoutbox at the top of the forum? It'll be easier than going through all the stages to get into the chat room.

Great idea Mark, I think that'd work great. The chat room usually takes quite a while to get geared up and started for me.

Yeah, it's definitely an improvement on the inactive chat room. It's just moderating the shoutbox, and if people can be trusted to use it sensibly.

Another idea for this task, I was thinking of maybe trying to make the MOD's and staff on here stand out more. I know we can all recognise them fine, as we remember the names and that, but for new members like it'll be a lot more difficult to recognise the forum staff.

Ummm.
Maybe something like 5 stars beneath each post, and you can give a member a certain amount of stars for good posts. That way it wouldn't be given to friends, it would be through good posts? No negative stars and such.

I like the shout out idea. Question. Would shouts have to be moderated though so rogue posts would not get through? Would that be extra work for mods and admin? I am confused to how offensive/abusive messages could be stopped from being posted?

It shows you that the lounge is a popular area to go because it is red.
It is all colour coded for easy guidance and it is quite easy to navigate around. Have a play and see. THEN JOIN. Lol. "blatently advertises" :whistle:No seriously. It's just an idea that I like very much on my site. Yellow for instance shows me posts I have not read, so it is easy for me to find new posts.

It has been pointed out to me that there are some symbols on here already. I know the symbol for a sticky thread, but in all my time here I have not noticed any others. It needs updating and there is no legend on here. It needs to be introduced.

I know Mark, and it is a good idea, but we have to go with ones that actually could be plausable, and are well thought out. We have seen these two ideas in operation already, and it makes it look like we have really thought them up, because we ain't going to say where we got them from! :tongue:

Ideas for Team Extreme
Presentation - 1st idea. "Meet the members"
The idea is that you have a small section at the top of the page, to the right of the logo, which shows a random members avatar. It also has details of the members name, their generic symbol, the date they joined, and their location. The random member selected will change every time the page is changed or refreshed. This is a good way for new members to see other members who possibly may not be online. Should be relatively easy to set up.
Presentation - 2nd idea. "Icon Legend"
Although the site has some features presently, like symbols for a sticky thread, we think it is a difficult and outdated one. We suggest re-vamping this with colour coding, and an "Icon Legend" added to explain the colour codes to members on the main page at the bottom centre. This should make it a lot more user friendly. So for instance, if you were looking at the sections on the main page, the Big Brother 3 section could show as yellow, which means there are unread posts in that section that the member has not seen. Once entering that section, threads can be shown in different colours. I.E. a thread could show up as red, "red hot thread", to show it is a popular one where members post a lot, and could be a good way for a new member to get to know other members. This should also be relatively quick and easy to install.
Example:
Yellow - New post
Pink - Hot thread
Green - Sticky thread
Blue - Old post
Red - Red hot thread
Purple - Locked thread

Hi, thanks for your ideas. I won't be able to choose one tonight because I need to check to see if something is technically possible on the forum before choosing a new feature to add. Also, I'll be away from the computer most of this evening, probably.
