I take it there's no possible way to find out who edited your Karma Rating?

It's always obvious who's changed it when it goes down, because it'll be someone you've recently had an argument with no doubt.

But when it goes up, it can be less obvious, and I feel obliged to return the favour and increase their Karma too.

Also, I noticed Karma seems to disappear from under your avatar when you have 1000+ posts? [I think.]
And was wondering why is that?

Im feeling generous today, so anyone who enters this topic gets thier Karma increased ^_^ lol.

On a totally seperate note, the plumber is in re-doing our bathroom all week...so I haven't been able to get ready properly in a morning, which means I don't want a total stranger in our house seeing me looking awful, which means im trying to avoid him.

In short, I feel rough and im starving.

What the hell are Karma Ratings?

Look under your avatar?
You have a 0 Karma Rating.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

People give you a + Karma if they like you or your post.
People give you a - Karma if they dislike you or your post.

Its not that when people get to 1000 posts it disappears, its that some members choose to have it on, some choose to have it off.

I removed it, I think it willl bring competition and stuff on the forum, and we don't need that after what happened the last few weeks

Oh right, I sort of get it now lol.

Ah ok, that makes more sense...
Do I have the option to turn my Karma Rating off now then?
Or are a certain number of posts required?

Billy

no you can turn it off whenever you want

I think it's better done anonymously. Imagine the arguments on here if everyone knew who'd taken karma away from them.

I have occasionally noticed, since the karma system was added a few months ago, some people getting suspicious of others, and accusing them of taking karma away. Imagine if they actually knew who it was....

...So I think it would be better to leave things as they are.

I don't think it automatically goes off. I think it's just that you can chose to take it away after 1000 posts.
I did, I prefer not to be graded and branded.

its been happening to mine too but we did disgus this in suggestion and help section where James or Mark admin has told us members how to use it so if you wish just look on there yeah but i just accept anyone giving me karma :cheer2:

You have a point Cepb...
Although it could cause people to argue and accuse the wrong person.
Imagine how bad you'd feel if someone claimed you'd edited their Karma, when it wasn't even you? or how silly you'd feel if you accused someone of it, and it wasn't them.

Im not saying they should put something in place that allows us to see who edited our Karma, im not that bothered about it.
I suppose if anyone raises my Karma id just like to know who, perhaps by them messaging me =] so I can return it. But obviously that's down to them I suppose.

Don't you need to be a 0 Karma before you can?

My worry is, is the software that does this linked in anyway to permissions, such as posting and starting new topics. When this first came about there was some talk of rewards for high karma, extra things we could do. This means with negative karma something nasty might happen to our accounts, if that was the case.

Unfortunately I ended up with negative karma before I could shut it off.

You can switch it off no matter what it is, I think.

I turned my karma rating off when it was -1.
Then turned it back on to find it was -2.
How odd.

You get karma taken off you for even discussing it. I turned mine off because someone used to love taking it down every day and took loads off me, so I deprived them of their pleasure. I have turned it back on now to see what happens. Lol. Bet you it's back off by the end of the day.

The idea is that this was to reflect quality of postings, but people are just doing -ve karma because they disagree with a post.

Retroman
12-09-2007, 03:14 PM
Can you add/subtract from a persons Karma rating for every 100 posts you have?

EG. If I have 100 posts I can leave one Karma Rating per day, 200 posts I can leave 2 Karma Ratings per day?

Because I can currently edit one persons Karma each day so it seems, but people seem to be discussing leaving two Karma Ratings?
Although as previously mentioned, someone said about leaving Karma in three hours, so perhaps there's a certain waiting gap between leaving Karma?

Mrluvaluva
12-09-2007, 03:16 PM
You can only post 1 karma +/- point every 3 hours no matter how many posts you have.

Retroman
12-09-2007, 03:18 PM
Ah ok, so that's 8 Karma Ratings per day for everyone...
Not that many people are on the forum for 24 hours straight of course, but still.

Thanks for clearing that up.
