when i bought my 5th generation ipod back in 2005 from play.com it broke after a couple of days and they were out of stock so i sent it back and out a new one in January 2006 they also gave me a &50 gift voucher which im spending now

so overall it costs £149.00

I wouldn't recommend it personally...
Things that you have to touch, are only any good if they're protected.
EG. The Nintendo DS folds and has a special pen to touch the screen with.

Whereas this screen, as far as im aware, is the same style as the PSP?
And is exposed and open.

You'd be surprised how damaged and scratched it can get, even from merely being in your pocket.

As it becomes damaged or less visually pleasing due to marks etc, you'll just plain not care about it as much anymore. Kind of like buying a new pair of trainers, trying to keep them nice and clean, then damaging/ripping/dirtying them and suddenly you just throw them in the corner, take them off with your heel, let them get dirty etc.

Only an Ipod isn't a trainer, it's a much more fragile and valuable product.

I will explain my decision to get a touch AND a nano...

It's hard to fill a 16gb iPod with 23gb worth of material... :laugh2:

I'll make do with my 50GB Video Ipod for now I think...
Touching a screen or touching a small circular dial, doesn't really matter. I spent £200 on the one I currently have, so it'd be wise to make good use of it.

Perhaps if I had an older/ not as good version id decide to upgrade it.

I hear an ipods battery life is somewhere around three years?
That might be for a specific version of the Ipod im not sure, but I hear the battery inside will die in a few years or so and it'll be rendered useless?

yer but itunes isnt that smart it will try to put every thing it can onto both of the ipod and wont think oh i just put 16gb on the touch so i must have to put the rest on that nano

There's no need to pat my head, patronise me and claim I have an imaginary iPod/im a liar. That says more about you than it does me.

Still, it's quite small, plays videos and plays music.
Seems good enough for me.

If I was to replace it with the newer touch version, it'd be the equivalent of trading in a perfectly good BMW car worth £6000 to buy another BMW car that looks/performs almost the exact same, but is worth £8000 just because it has a couple of pointless mod cons like a rear windscreen wiper and a cup holder.
