View Full Version : Message Advertising [Attention to Admins/Staff]

Just a couple of questions:
1. What is the forums view on people who insist on advertising other forums through messaging members?
2. If you are against Message Advertising, then what is the rule against it? Eg. Bannishment/Warning.
Ive addressed one Admin so far by forwarding them an advertising message sent to me, but with no reply yet.
There's more people/messages I could bring to the staffs attention if necessary.
In short, im getting a little irritated with my inbox becoming full of people asking me to join their forum or website/vote for them etc etc.
Thankyou kindly for any feedback.

Its not agains the rules, Its a PRIVATE MESSAGE
If you dont like it then dont sign up or vote, I am sure opening a U2U isnt that hard, even if its something you dont like

I agree with Andy. I think its cos most people on here are very close with each other, and if there in competitions or such, they ask people to vote for them as friends,(I know I do sometimes)

So I mentioned my forum to you? Not a BB one? What is your problem?

I don't see why you have to have an attitude with me Andy...
What with the capitals, and telling me opening a U2U isn't hard, which isn't even relevant. I didn't ask the forum staff on their view of forum advertising just so I could be patronised.
As for OfficialSuperstar, im talking about people ive never even spoken with. And people who are telling me to join their forum, as well as others who want me to vote for them. So your points not relevant either.
May I also refer you to rule C from the official forum rules:
c) Do not use ThisisBigBrother.com as a way of advertising your product, website or company. Also do not use the forum as a way of collecting people's email addresses and using them for junk and SPAM e-mail.

That rule does apply on the forums, not on the u2us, you can send everything you want by u2u, no insults of course, but for promoting a forum or stuff like that.
That's a forum, you like it or you leave it !

Im assuming from everyone's negative reaction towards me asking the forum staff a justified question, that most of you do use this forum to advertise.
Again, your fault not mine.
Don't act negatively towards me just because im addressing your possible rule breaking.
As for "like it or leave it" I never said that U2U advertisements were ruining my life, im just asking the staff if they're allowed, because if not im getting lots of random strangers advertising websites to me.
Again, I don't see the need to behave in such a manner towards me for a simple concern.

I see where you're coming from. But often other members do have pretty cool places you can check out, which they want people to see... unless there's another way they could do it. If they do it just the once or something, I don't think it counts as spam.
Perhaps an option could be introduced where you choose to withdraw yourself from receiving such U2Us etc., although I don't know how that would be feasible.
I guess since they're only U2Us - and that too not very many - you can just delete them, much like junk mail or irrelevant emails (doesn't take up too much time). It'd be hard for the moderators to monitor every single case like this, I would imagine, even though for the most part they manage to sort out most things.

1. Don't reply to his posts if you ignore them.
2. We don't use TIBB for that in anyway, we are friends so it's normal to give our myspaces, websites or forums, we aren't here only to talk about BB.
And there is no rule-breaking, because if there was the mods would have done something for ages.

it doesnt matter if you didnt adress MrLuvLuva. This is a forum, where people express opinions, if you wanted this to be private, use u2u

I think some people don't understand what a forum is. There are rules, we didn't break any by telling what our websites are or telling you to vote for us, if it was against the rules, the mods would have done something against that don't you think ?

I made a thread about website advertisements in my inbox...
Which means im self obsessed? that makes no sense nor logic.
Anyway, im getting the serious impression that people aren't happy with this topic. Even though I said nothing insulting or provokitive, but merely asked the staff about their rules regarding U2U advertisements.
So I really don't see the justification in everyone's negative response.
U2U advertising is apparently allowed, and not against the rules. So i'll simply delete any and all advertisements that come my way.
Whereas if it had been a breach of the forum rules, perhaps said advertisers would be stopped/refrained from advertising in my inbox and I wouldn't have to read them anymore.
Deleting a message isn't hard, I was just seeking information =]
So please calm down. There's no need for people's caps lock, "ffs" and certain remarks.
P.S Rule C doesn't state anything about applying to purely the forum, it says it applies to thisisbigbrother.com, which may well have covered U2U.

We didn't say anything bad, we just what we thought and we did tell you what was aloud or not. Have fun with deleting all the ad in your inbox.

Case not closed. You mentioned you had sent one such example to admin. It could have been anything. Get over yourself. If you have the gall to post threads like this then at least stand by your convictions.

Yeah, retroman forwarded me a u2u sent to him advertising a VBB. It wasn't from Mrluvaluva, someone else (not a regular member as far as I can see).
Sorry I didn't reply to you, I'll contact the person who sent you the u2u. I agree mass-advertising using u2u is annoying and something we discourage.

Thankyou for getting back to me.
Im not on a mission to get all advertisers banned, I just thought if the forum disagreed with it they might like to know..anyway, thanks again, much appreciated.
