Britney track limps in at No. 85
Things have gone from disastrous to catastrophic for Britney Spears, after hearing news that her new single 'Gimme More' crashed-and-burned in the US Billboard charts.
The track limped in at a lowly number 85 on its debut, after the 25-year-old tarnished the would-be hit with a lacklustre 'live' performance at last weekend's Music Video Awards.
US reports say radio stations across the country are shunning the song, failing to give it airtime.
Unfortunately for the down-and-out star, she's receiving no sympathy from fellow music cronies, particularly from super-star producer, Timbaland.
The composer, who has worked with Britney's ex-Justin Timberlake, attacked the beleaguered songbird saying it's her own fault for rejecting an offer to work with him.
Timbaland said: 'She needs a story'
He continued: 'She has no comeback story. That's the problem. She has to have a team. She needs to come back with Justin doing records; [then we'd see headlines like,] 'She went back to her ex and she's making smashes.'
'But instead she got so big-headed and was like, “Screw you, screw you, I don't need nobody”' the 36-year-old said backstage at the Awards.
He then offered Spears a second chance, adding: 'She should humble herself and make a phone call and say, “I'm sorry.” She knows what she's sorry about.'
'She needs to say, “I was wrong,” and it'll definitely move forward. … That's all she has to say.'
Meanwhile, Britney is busy trying to defuse another feud with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, 29, ahead of their custody hearing in five days time.
She paid a visit to her lawyer's office and reportedly spent four hours with Federline and his legal team.
According to sources, Britney just wants to end the battle and start a new chapter but K-Fed's sources deny he's after her money but say he remains concerned about the welfare of his sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old, Jayden James.
