I just accidently scholded(sp) my pet cat with my kettle when he was walking around rubbing against my leg. I didn't realise someone had let him in as I had put him out to do his business half hour earlier, when I looked down to see what it was touching my leg, my kettle spilt and about a shot-glass worth of boiling water hit his back. He let out a cat-scream and was running around the room as his fur has patches missing from where he got into a scuff the other day. He seems fine now but I'm guessing he's still in shock and pain. How do I comfort him? God I hate me right now.

But what if they charge me £30 to tell me that he's okay. I'm sure he's fine, I just want to comfort him and I don't know how best to do it. He's not even strictly my cat, he's my brother's.

Oh dear.

If your cat will let you, try soaking a towel with cold water and pressing that gently on his back to take the heat out of any burn. Keep re-soaking the cloth occasionally to keep it cool.

If you're at all worried, I suggest taking a visit to your vet or PDSA to get your poor kitty checked over.

aww - poor cat
but these thnsk happen - if u think he'she aright then you might not need to go to the vets - but to be on the safe side its worth how ever much it cost

Cats creep me out but i fink its best to take him to the vet. Better to be safe than sorry. Burns can be tricky for humans so i dunno about animals. But saying that if your cat was in a lot of pain im sure it would let you know by the horrible noise they make in the middle of the night. Although i fink thats all to do with mating........sorry im getting of the point. Yeh i would take him to the vet.

Maybe you could ring the vets first to ask their advice?
