I've had problems for about 2 weeks now. My computer just randomly turns off after a little thing called 'THotkey' appears in the taskbar and won't turn back on for ages with messages popping up when I try to turn it on saying things about applications.

Also my internet keeps randomly turning off and now I can't get on MSN. I'm worried I have a virus and I have no idea how to check if I do or how to get rid of it!

Please help! Will be much apperciated.

THotkey is a process that is installed by default on Toshiba Notebooks which allows the various functions to be performed using the Fn key. Without it your the Fn Key would work correctly so it's not that causing the problem.

The computer could be overheating does it get very hot or only do it when you have a lot of applications running?

Yeah it seems to go off when I've had it on a long time or I'm on loads! So how do I fix it?

Is it still in warranty? If so take it back and get someone else to fix it.

You could do it yourself but it isn't easy it lots of little screws. Everything is really packed inside so carefully to make them so small.

What model is it?

Its a Qosmio Toshiba G20. Oooh and I asked and its no longer in warranty.

Any chance it will go away be itself? *wishful thinking*

Doesn't every item you buy have atleast a year's gaurantee on it? Contact Trading Standards for some advice on what you can do.

Did your computer come with restore disks?

That might fix it.

This makes me paranoid about my Toshiba Laptop

I can not remember it's model number.

I got it in March, but so far have not had these issues. Infact I am using it more because my desktop, I got in 2002 seems to be slower, and the fan whirrs a lot. I am not skilled to open it up as I am paranoid about dust bunies that must be there.

I had a look for a service manual on the net and I didn't have any joy. Sorry.

HP/Compaq are the best for service manuals you can get them directly from HP/Compaq website.

I will keep looking. I found a site that showed you how to take some Toshiba Notebooks apart but they didn't include your model.
