I download them, convert them to a .mov file and then open them in Imageready where I choose what part of the vid i wanna use.

You can download a 30 day free trial of Photoshop CS2. Even though mine expired like a month ago it still lets me make animations in Imageready =)

I think you have Photoshop CS3, which doesn't have ImageReady.

I use camtasia, you can record youtube clips with it and it converts them to gif for you
