Emmerdales viewing figures are rapidly falling, its getting bad press left right and centre, long time fans of Emmerdale are complaining about too many wooden characters and not enough interesting storylines, what is your opinion?

I find it generally boring. But that's my opinion of all soaps bar Hollyoaks.

Scarlett.

I really hope so CalthalOS
but it will only work if the production team get to work!

It will go down the same road had Brookside IMO. I don't like Emmerdale, but Corrie is even boring then Emmerdale.

Best soaps are Eastenders and Hollyoaks, both have grate stroylines at the moment.

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 02:05 PM
I dont think Emmerdale will be axed its been running for 35 years, the second longest running soap in Britain, it wont be axed

Nicola
23-09-2007, 02:07 PM
I've got more into Emmerdale over the last few years cos there's been good storylines and it's become more sensational now than what it was before.

I'm liking Corrie and EastEnders more at the moment, usually whatever has the best storylines has me gripped although I watch all 3 and follow them religiously!

KKBL
23-09-2007, 02:07 PM
Emmerdale wont be axed it gets an average of more then 7(it might be 8)million!

I doubt that would happen really, the thing with Brookside is that it got bashed around the schedule alot. Plus Emmerdale gets millions of viewers.

I like it how it is at the moment. I mean it isn't going to be exciting all the time, then it would be OTT. :P

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 02:13 PM
They just need to axe 1 episode and most of the deadwood (Like Corrie did last year and 2005)

XxShortyxX
23-09-2007, 02:16 PM
I wonder how long all the soaps will go on for? People say Big Brother is boring now, yet soaps are on everyday (expect Sat and Sun's) surley people are getting bored with them? I mean how many storylines can they have

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 02:18 PM
I know Corrie is here for good, since its now classed as part of the British culture

Emmerdale is the only soap in the world known to run 6 days a week

Billy
23-09-2007, 03:14 PM
Which isnt really a good thing. The show should be about 3 times a week, and focus on a couple of storylines, cos they have all these storylines that are rubbish

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 03:21 PM
I know exactly what your saying Billy, to many episodes lowers the quality of scriptwriting

Ruth*Star
23-09-2007, 03:32 PM
I don't see Emmerdale being axed but the best thing for the soap would be to drop at least one episode.

XxShortyxX
23-09-2007, 03:35 PM
As well as drop some Episodes, they should get rid of the not so popular characters, like Corrie and Eastenders did.

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 03:45 PM
I like the Emmerdallas style of it with The Kings, The Nicholls, Nichola DeSouza and David Metcalf

Billy
23-09-2007, 03:46 PM
Nicola de what? Is that Nicola Blackstock?

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 03:47 PM
yeah, its her new name

XxShortyxX
23-09-2007, 03:48 PM
I don't know any of them people lol. The only person I know on it, is Kelly, because Adele was on Hells Kitchen. Is she still in Emmerdale?

Scarlett.
23-09-2007, 03:49 PM
yeah, she's included with the Kings shes leaving soon though

Something interesting needs to happen soon i think.

If the fires in August, then that's like ages away!

I used to think Emmerdale was really funny and stuff, but its getting a bit boring.
They need to get rid of the characters hoo are there for no reason.
What I dont like about soaps are that after one storyline finishes, it seems like it never happened and everyone just carries on as if nothing happened which is a bit unrealistic.

Scarlett.

well Emmerdale imo is rubbish FULL STOP i stopped watching it a year ago these pathetic fires murders affairs crashes which have good stunts but a RUBBISH aftermath and acting.... i say axe the thing.

ANGRY fans have rounded on new boss Anita Turner claiming she is ruining the Dales drama by killing off their favourite characters.

They are upset with the producer’s decision to axe some cast members.

Since she took over Anita has got rid of Christopher Villiers, 47, (Grayson Sinclair) Richard Grieve, 38, (Jonny Foster)
Georgia Slowe, 41, (Perdy Sinclair) and Ayden Callaghan, 26, (Miles De Souza).

Unofficial fans’ website The Emmerdale Forum has now pulled the plug “in protest”. An email sent to the site’s members said: “Due to the show’s continuing decline in quality, the admin decided to close what was a very busy forum in protest of the new producer, Anita Turner, coming in and *failing to put right what was wrong.”

But an Emmerdale spokesman said: “This is not the feedback we are getting from the majority of loyal fans across the country who continue to express their enjoyment of the show.

“There are many other forums that exist in support of Emmer-dale and we continue to be grateful for their constructive feedback.”

Daily Star

OMG I am a member of that forum!!

TBH Emmerdale is rubbish and has been for ages. The episodes are currently in overkill so people might just be getting annoyed with it. Its time to cut back the episodes and have 5 half hour episodes across the week, none of this 1 hour episode every Tuesday and on the odd Thursday business. The same goes for Corrie actually, that needs to be on five times a week on five days, not overkill on Mondays and Fridays.

JOSHUAH!
22-05-2008, 09:24 PM
Its dier. Really it is.

I liked Johnny and Perdy, shame they're going. I couldn't really care less about the others. But as always the Dingle family grows, and that really gets me mad. Fair enough have the main few, Lisa, Zach, Bell, Chaz & Sam. But not MORE & MORE extended family that seem to pop up from nowhere.

The storylines are far fetched aswell, especially this one with Viv. The baby one needs to get sorted quickly, its starting to drag.

To be honest, it was OK, but things are just getting worse.

Scarlett.
22-05-2008, 09:36 PM
Aye, its so repeatative now

Corrie is getting better IMO, it was quite bland last year
Emmerdale is just getting worse

I used to love emmerdale, never missed an episode of it in fact. But last year and this year it has gone rubbish, it's apsolutely pathetic the storylines and I never watch it anymore. I think they should axe it for the sake of itv.

KKBL
22-05-2008, 09:52 PM
they need to do something quick.Corinaton Street has become so boring in the past year but most of the viewers are old-age pensioners so they wont be switching of anytime soon.but now Emmerdale is getting boring and they dont have that so if the ratings continue to plumet it will get axed

Callum

Emmerdale is crashing and burning, and no matter how much Emmerdale say its not everyones view, doesnt make it true

22-05-2008, 10:58 PM
Anything could happen to any of the soaps. Brookside was just as popular as Emmerdale and ratings began dropping due to over sensationalist plots and it becoming unrealistic, similar to emmerdale who strive to make big stunts a regular thing.

Since this post began Emmerdale's viewing figures have dropped a further 2 million, regularly interesting just 5 million viewers.

Scarlett.
22-05-2008, 10:59 PM

Its the worst soap going, its just boring.

its on 5 million now, can't wait to see the ratings its getting in August.

I think its time to axe the show and let it end while its still got some pride.

Scarlett.
23-05-2008, 07:01 PM
Aye

Time to say bye to the Dales
It lost its old audience with the Explosive storylines
and lost its young audience with its boring ones

Spike
23-05-2008, 07:04 PM
Old people are its main audience so in a few years time when some of them are dead and after the digital switchover its ratings are going to go way down because its not attracting new or young viewers and not able to keep the viewers its already got.

I think its time for it to end, and I think it will in the next few years.

Scarlett.
23-05-2008, 07:08 PM
Aye Corrie and EE will survive as they have BIG audiences (The biggest on UK TV)

Scarlett.

Two of Emmerdale's biggest stars have walked out.

The decisions by Matthew Bose, 34, who plays gay heart-throb Paul Lambert, and Michael Jayston, 72, who plays Donald de Souza, come amid reports morale on the soap is at an all-time low.

In months of open revolt, cast and crew have slammed the show's tacky storylines and lack of direction since the arrival of producer Anita Turner - dubbed Anita Turn-off.

There are even fears the crisis could lead to the award-winning soap's demise. A furious insider said: "It's not the same since the hierarchy changed 10 months ago. Morale has never been so bad. If it was Corrie or EastEnders they would be gone by now."

An Emmerdale spokesman confirmed the two actors were leaving, adding: "The suggestion that any members of cast are leaving due to low morale is ludicrous."

Emmerdale actor Luke Tittensor is due in court on Monday to answer a charge of grievous bodily harm, according to the papers.

The News Of The World reports that the 18-year-old - who plays Daz Eden in the soap - is alleged to have broken another man's jaw, following an incident in Rochdale, Lancashire.

And there are claims he could face up to five years in jail if he is found guilty.

"Luke is very worried," a source told the paper. If he’s found guilty then it could have serious repercussions for his career."

"He’s been in Emmerdale for five years and has worked his way up from child actor to one of the biggest stars in the show. He’s petrified of losing what he’s worked so hard to achieve."

Tittensor will appear before magistrates in Rochdale.

He is the second Emmerdale star to land in court in recent months - his co-star Cleveland Campbell, who plays Danny Daggert in the soap, was cleared of GBH earlier this year.

I really dont think Emmerdale can recover from this. It's been too long in a slump for it to recover, and I love the showw usually, but I really dont think it can recover.

Scarlett.
14-09-2008, 02:31 PM
Nope, I mean in the past months how many actors have left? 11?
and with Jo and Matthew leaving the show is loosing two of the big stars there

also theres the rumour of Donna leaving, and Viv not coming back

Billy

I think it'll be gone this time next year if I'm honest.

Aye, I stopped being intrested over a year ago, I watch the odd episode in the background (mainly so I dont have to switch over from another channel for Corrie)
