View Full Version : CAPTCHA in the register form
I would like to suggest that the admins install CAPTCHA on the TiBB registration form.
For those of you that don't know what CAPTCHA is, when you register to some online services, they ask you to enter a sequence of numbers and/or letters in order to verify you are not a bot - this is CAPTCHA.
The reason CAPTCHA exists is to stop/help prevent spambots from registering to online services.
I am suggesting this because, if they add this, it will reduce the amount of spam that TiBB is getting, and it will save the mods/admins time deleting threads and banning the spambots that posted them.
I'm sure it's no inconvenience just to enter a simple sequence of numbers/letters when you're registering?
Thanks for listening to my suggestion :)
Scarlett.

I agree since the amount of Viagra bots for example has increased lately so that's a good idea.
I wait to see what the admins say...
Imagine if a younger member clicked on the links... :yuk:

Yeah I've found spambots a problem on a few of my sites, I tend to ban them unless I can't keep up with the amount of spam on there or do anything to prevent it.
Some of the "spam bot" links I've opened have made me feel sick because of how graphic they are.

Yeah I'm more careful now to avoid the spam bots, I've started using stuff where there won't be such a problem with spam. I also tend to activate accounts myself if I'm on a particular forum a lot.

Basically, it shows a different sequence of numbers/letters every time the page is refreshed, which a user has to type in to register.
Bots cannot guess the sequence because they cannot read it.

Because bots can't see... they're computer programs so they don't have eyes... hence they can't read...

I have added CAPTCHA image verification to the registration form. It should stop the automated spammers.
