IF YOUR UNDER THE AGE OF 15 you are not a 90`s kid
JUST CAUSE YOU WERE BORN IN '93' OR '94' DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A 90's KID

IT'S NOT LIKE YOU COULD REMEMBER SOME OF THE ORIGINAL SIMPSONS

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A 90s KID IF...

YOU CAN SING THE RAP TO "THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR"

YOU REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY WORTH GETTING UP ON A SATURDAY MORNING TO WATCH LIVE&KICKING OR SM:TV

YOU HAD A HUGE FRINGE AT SOME POINT IN YOUR CHILDHOOD

YOU REMEMBER READING AND WATCHING "GOOSEBUMPS"

YOU TOOK PLASTIC CARTOON LUNCH BOXES TO SCHOOL

YOU REMEMBER THE CRAZE OF YO-YOS, TROLLS & TAMAGOTCHIS AND DIGIMON

YOU STILL GET THE URGE TO SAY "NOT" AFTER EVERY SENTENCE NOT

YOU KNEW THAT KIMBERLY, THE PINK RANGER, AND TOMMY, THE GREEN RANGER WERE MEANT TO BE <3

YOU COLLECTED POKEMON CARDS

YOU PLAYED AND/OR COLLECTED POGS

YOU HAD A WEIRD ALIEN THAT LIVED IN GOOEY STUFF IN A PLASTIC "POD" AND THOUGHT IF YOU STUCK 2 BACK TO BACK THEY WOULD HAVE A BABY!LMAO!

YOU WATCHED THE ORIGINAL POSTMAN PAT, FIREMAN SAM AND NINJA TURTLES

YOU STILL RUB 50 PENCE COINS AND MAKING WISHES LIKE IN THE QUEENS NOSE

YOU COLLECTED AND REMEMBER WHEN THE NEW BEANIE BABIES WERE ALWAYS SOLD OUT

YOU GOT YOUR MUM TO BUY 'BN' BISCUITS

YOU USED TO WEAR THOSE STICK ON EARRINGS, NOT ONLY ON YOUR EARS BUT AT THE CORNERS OF YOUR EYES

YOU KNOW THE MACERENA BY HEART

KELLY KOPOWSKI FROM SAVED BY THE BELL WAS THE HOTTEST PERSON ON TV

"TALK TO THE HAND" ENOUGH SAID

YOU REMEMBER THE TIME BEFORE LITERACY AND NUMERACY HOUR EXISTED

YOU REMEMBER A TIME BEFORE TELLITUBIES EXISTED

YOU THOUGHT BRAIN FROM "PINKEY AND THE BRAIN" WOULD FINALLY TAKE OVER THE WORLD

YOU REMEMBER BUM BAGS

YOU HAD JELLY SHOES AND IF YOU WERE REALLY TRENDY THEY EVEN HAD HEELS

YOU HAD TRAINERS THAT FLASHED WHEN YOU WALKED!

YOU REMEMBER MATTHEW CORBETT ON SOOTY AND SWEEP

YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE ON FUN HOUSE

2 WORDS, SPICE GIRLS

YOU KNOW THAT CAROL VORDEMAN WAS COOL BY WATCHING HOW 2

YOU OWNED AN ARTICLE OF CLOTHING THAT WAS LIME GREEN OR ILLUMINOUS ORANGE

YOU REMEMBER WHEN SATURDAY NIGHT TV CONSISTED OF BIG BREAK AND JIM DAVIDSON'S GENERATION GAME ON BBC, GLADIATORS ON ITV, BACK TO BBC FOR NOEL'S HOUSE PARTY (COME ON, MR BLOBBY AND SCRATCH AND SNIFF CARDS LMAO) FOLLOWED BY THE LOTTERY WITHOUT ALL THE GAMESHOWS ATTACHED TO IT LIKE TODAY, CLASSIC CASUALTY, THE NEWS, THEN A FILM, USUALLY A BIG ACTION FILM LIKE TRUE LIES

YOU HAD ONE OF THOSE PLASTIC MONEY POTS THAT YOU WORE ROUND YOUR NECK AND MANAGED TO CRAM YOUR COINS IN AND YOU COULD HEAR THE COINS RATTLING WHEN YOU WALKED...WE WERE COOL

YOU OWNED A HAIRBAND THAT HAD YOUR NAME ON IT!OR IF YOU WERE REALLY COOL IT SAID 'SPICE GIRLS'

YOU OWNED A FURBY LOL

YOU HAD A BUBBLE COAT AND/OR A BUBBLE BAG WHICH YOU HAD TO INFLATE-REMEMBER THEM?

YOU HAD ONE OF THOSE BRACELETS THAT YOU SLAP ON YOUR WRIST - THEY WERE AWESOME

Personally I don't think any people born in the 1990's deserve the title of a true 90's kid. You probably don't remember much/anything at all from the first three years of your life, so that's half of the 1990's over for you already =] some people may even remember less.

I was three years old when 1990 arrived, and im not saying this just because I fit into this category...but people born from 1985-1987 would have been the only people able to appreciate the whole 1990's decade as kids.

For those of you born in 1990 - 1994, by the time you were old enough to remember anything properly, a large percentage of the 1990's were over. Which I don't think warrants you the title of a "90's child" im afraid. Not a proper one at least.

I consider myself to be a 90s child. And it was such a great time to grow up in - not that I'm biased or anything, but I wouldn't change a thing. My brother was born in 2002, and I still think that he sponges off most of the stuff the 90s kids got first.

It's all well and good claiming you remember things...
But if you were born in 1990 - 1994 for example, and certain books/tv shows/crazes/events happened between 1990-1994 then you WEREN'T there. Or you were TOO YOUNG to remember.

You just witnessed the aftermath, or the repeats of the tv show etc.

I could have been born in 2000, but still remember all of these things if I watched specific channels/downloads.

So yea, coming along several years into the 90's and claiming you remember everything doesn't make you a 90's child. Because you weren't there when half of the things actually happened, like I said..you just saw the aftermath/repeats/ whatever happened after 1994 or whichever year.

It's the equivalent of coming along in the year 3000 and saying you're a 90's child because you remember all the things from the 90's because you researched them/watched them on tele/online. You still weren't there.

Being there for half of it, or even three quarters of it...isn't quite good enough in my opinion. Some of you would have been 5-9 years old when the year 2000 came around, so your childhood went well into the 2000's =]

By logic, id say that makes most of the people here either 2000 children, or half 90's children at best.

Well I think we have to go off percentages here...
If you remember everything from 1990 - 2000 then you'd be 100% a 90's child.

And you knock 10% off for each year you don't remember.

So I guess that would make you 90% a 90's child =]

Anyone who's 50% or under isn't worth noting.
Those who are 60% - 80% have a decent knowledge, but aren't quite worthy of being a full on 90's child.

90% or above I think would be a good reflection of a 90's child.
Most things going on in 1990 would have still been going on in 1991 anyway.

This was supposed to be a good, funny thread for people to have a laugh at .... and you've turned it into ''you are 30% a 90s child'' ... ahhhh, clearly everyone born in the 90s is a ''90s child'' ... you're an ''80s child'' ... everything doesn't have to be a competition so leave us to remenice (sp?) on pogs and pokemon which btw I loathe.

Nope...
Because we're going off what you can remember, not when you were born.

So that would make me 0% an 80's child, because as far as im aware...
I don't remember anything from the 80's.

I only turned this into what it is, because I get tired of little kids coming along claiming they're 90's children because they read a Goosebumps book and watched a repeat of The Sooty show.

If this was a "lets remember things from the 90's topic" then fine =] as it's a "who's a 90's kid" it's a little different.

KK I get it.

So you're a 100% 90's kid, kk.

There was someone on here who was born in 1995 and claimed to be a 90's child. But their first memory would have been in 1999, so I don't think they should be given that lable at all. More of a 00s child I'd say...

Well exactly...
I mean, I was born in 1987 and I wouldn't dream of telling anyone im an 80's kid just because I remembered a couple of pieces of information from the 1980's and was born in that decade.

In ten years or more, anyone who isn't a 90's kid will be able to say they're a true 00's kid =] so everyone will have their moment. And everyone has a decade they lived all the way through at a young age.

Nicola

I was born in 1982 but remember a lot of the stuff from when I was growing up. I always watched Live and Kicking, and the Saturday Night thing was my Saturday with the family spot on (now it's X Factor, Ant and Dec and Casualty that rule my Saturday nights!) And I owned a Tamagotchi and got addicted to the whole thing.

I tend to view myself as an 80's kid from when I was born even though I have more memories of the 90's - I was 8 in 1990, 13 in 1995 and 17 in 1999 so I was more of a kid in the early 90's.

There is no official ''90s child qualification'' and as you were not born in the 90s, you're CLEARLY not a ''90s child''.

''I get tired of little kids coming along claiming they are 90s children'' ... why, is it such a big deal to you? Does it really effect you that much that you need to waste your time with stats and percentages you created yourself? This as well as patronising people with the ''little kids'' comment.

This is so pathetic and petty and I can't believe I'm still going on about it. :bored:

If this was a "lets remember things from the 90's topic" then fine =] as it's a "who's a 90's kid" it's a little different.

You're not getting it are you?

There is no official ''90s child qualification'' and as you were not born in the 90s, you're CLEARLY not a ''90s child''.

''I get tired of little kids coming along claiming they are 90s children'' ... why, is it such a big deal to you? Does it really effect you that much that you need to waste your time with stats and percentages you created yourself? This as well as patronising people with the ''little kids'' comment.

This is so pathetic and petty and I can't believe I'm still going on about it. :bored: It like saying someone who was born in 1965 isnt a sixties child, which they clearly are

its not about %

Ah yes, very clever...the typing of one word per line to create a patronising effect, just wonderful. Doesn't help you win an argument though =]

This topic isn't "were you born in the 90's?" it's purely about people who remember everything from the 90's in their childhood. Otherwise you're claiming someone born in 1999 on New years Eve at 11:59PM is also a 90's child who remembers all those things? I think not.

You're completely confusing the meaning of a 90's child.
Like I said, it has nothing to do with what decade you were born in. It's to do with the many things that went on in the 1990's and what you remember of them in your childhood.

People born in lets say, 1992, who's long term memory didn't kick in for years after that...can't remember everything from the 90's, it's as simple as that.

And there was no patronising, I was calling them little kids because of their age. Afterall, I was a little kid too once, so am I patronising myself? I was calling them little kids, because they were quite literally little kids back then =] so please don't take what I say out of context for the sake of argument, it's rather immature.

It doesn't effect me nor become a big deal for me either...
You're the one who sounds like they're making a big deal out of something.

You have no basis to argue on if you you're thinking the definition of a 80's/90's child is based on what decade they were born in. You're just completely ignoring what the topic actually is...

This is about how much people remember.
If you remember all of the 90's in your childhood, you'd obviously be a 90's child. If you don't remember it all, then you're only a certain percentage.

Ten years in one decade.
One year = 10%
Ten years = 100%
And everything inbetween.

Id hardly call that made up.

Scarlett.

In short...
If you're under a certain percentage, then you'd be a 00's child =]
That's the whole point in the percentages.

People who will spend most of their childhood in the 00's and remember everything from that decade, and don't remember as much from the 90's, can't enter a topic claiming that they're 90's children.

It's just that simple.

We're talking about rememberance, the title of "90's child" and decades here.
Not "when were you born?"

Lol like I said...the list doesn't matter.
If your long term memory kicked in when it was 1994 [you were four years old.] then you weren't there to remember the originals from 1990-1994 =] the original events/tv shows etc from those years.

You just grew up seeing the last half of the series, or the repeats, or the end of the craze etc.

Which is just the same as someone born in 2000 saying they're a 90's child because they bought some pogs off ebay and watched a repeat of the Sooty Show on youtube. Doesn't mean you were there to witness these things when they came about.

You were there to witness possibly 1994-2000 and all the things that went on in those years. Which isn't the whole 90's now is it?

Which is why you're not a full 100% 90's kid, just someone who was born in the 90's who remembers some things.

We don't have to argue about this...
Just acknowledge the fact that if you don't remember the entire 90's you're not a full 100% 90's kid, and possibly a 00's kid then get over it =] then continue to discuss all the lovely things you remember.

Or are you having negative reactions because you feel you're being told you weren't part of the group who witnessed the entire 90's? lol. Nothing can be done about it, so don't get so offended.

Yeah, I don't see how this turned into a debate. If most of your childhood was in the 90s and you have early memories that you are fond of from that decade then obviously you're a 90's child, or at least I think that's most of our interpretations are of what a 90s child is.
