View Full Version : Should TIBB (Main Site) get a Makeover?

Should TIBB undergo a makeover?
I think it should.

If it were to undergo a makeover, I think they should give the whole site a much more modern and relaxed look. I also think they should give the main site a whole face lift. They could create simple sections on the main site.

News
New's, with the latest Big Brother news, reported by budding TIBB journalists (I will help). The news stories should have a interesting angle, and should be copied and pasted from other sites.

Forum
Forum, which will link to here. I think the Forum should get a lighter look, and we should get new smilies to add to the range. I think these should be more ordered, and have more in common, eg, size and style. I think we should also get new buttons, for New Topic, etc. Just small changes like this would give the Forum a whole new Image. Also, members have been complaing about new viewers ruining the forum, so maybe Members with over 250 post can view a section for chat for older members.

Entertainment
With big brother clips, images and even Games! (You can get free games to add to a website). This would give the forum a even bigger 'fun factor' and would keep us all interested.

Chatroom
The Chatroom, this should remain, and be given its own section. This would increase the 'status' of the chatroom.

You know that you can change the look of the forum by the different themes. So no, TIBB doesn't need a makeover, I love it as it is, I just changed the theme.

I don't mind it as it is, i wouldn't mind a arcade though, playing games on tibb would be cool.
The main website could do with a makeover though since nothing much has changed with it.

Did you take a look at the video and the pics section ?

A chatroom has nothing to do into the forum, it's been created in order to talk about other things which aren't on the forums.

I agree with most parts:thumbs:, but I own a BB fansite and would be angry if TIBB copied some of my reports. (although I know that current managment wouldn't do that!)

A chatroom has nothing to do into the forum, it's been created because it has nothing to do with the forums.

I think you'll find you need to be registered on the forum to use the chatroom...

You can change the style of how the forum looks in your control panel.

But no..... I dont think TiBB needs a make over at all.... why fix it if it aint bust?

I just mean the chatroom should get a bolder look. Of course, these are only my Ideas, i wanted your thoughts and Ideas.

I think the layout and way the site functions is top notch and better than pretty much every other forum I've been on. I wouldn't have it any other way. If people want variety, then as has been mentioned, it is possible to choose from a selection of themes.

Whenever new changes are made to the forum, it takes getting used to but it's always done to make it better rather than change it. I really like how everything is set out.

Captain.Remy
01-10-2007, 07:44 PM
Well, I think TIBB is awesome, and I love my theme for the forum.
If we add games and stuff like that, it will be like the other forums and TIBB is not like the others, we need to keep what we are.

I agree with that. Keep the forum the same, but i think the main site could do with a face lift, and other bits could be more 'uniformed'

Now, here is some reasons/opinions posted by mods from another thread as to why the design WON'T be changing:

I personally wouldn't like the design to change, it's pretty easy to use/navigate as it is and as said above you can change the skin you use in the 'control panel' to suit you.

Yes the site might be looking a bit old but it works and it works rather well. And new features are still being added like the chat room everyone wanted but now don't use.

Small changes over time have be carried out to improve the usability of the site and changes made to the software to meet our needs. It would be a shame to lose all this work and some loss of custom functionality just for the sake of a change in style. As the old adage goes "If it isn't broke don't fix it". If we changed the style which might involve changing the software we could be just asking for trouble.

I rather like the site for many of the reasons stated above. I think the site will serve us well for a few more years.

I think that the main site is in need of a makeover but the forum is great the way it is. The reason why I never visit the main site is because I hate the design. Also lack of news and updates puts it behind most of the other big sites.

If there was going to be a new design on the main website then it would be a great idea to ask the forum members what they want to see, after all we are the people who visit TiBB reguarly.

I think that we ran a competition for a new logo earlier in the year and the consensus was everyone preferred things the way they were.

James and Mark who do all of this work are very busy with things other than this site and do take the time to read all suggestions, but it is up to them what changes are and are not made based on the time that they have.

Matt
01-10-2007, 08:12 PM
Yes I know.

But when I first found TiBB, I did not find the link to the forum, I found the link to the main site. It was because I was so impressed with the main site that I joined the forum. :spin:

Couldn't there be a competition for a new TiBB Main website design, that would involve everyone and it would spark up a range of new ideas.

Was that in reply to what I said. If it was then I thought that maybe instead of just a logo competiton there could be one to design a whole new website.

If this is the case, why do we need a competition?

again this is something that is down to Mark with the genius of James.

Often it is forgotten that Mark actually owns this site, its almost like going to visit someone's home then telling them all the things you would like them to change to make you more comfortable! you wouldnt would you?

I have seen a lot worse designed websites than TiBB, I was actually very impressed with the design when I first saw it.

James and Mark probably find it quite challenging to control the site already.

Obviously not like Matts. Just more relaxed and Modern sort of! The Forum is great, but maybe a better home page, with more news features and entertainment would improve the site! It would be great then!

Up to date News, Photo's and Video's, a GREAT forum, games AND a chatroom - It would be perfect!

Obviously! I think some forum members would help with the changes if the ever did happen.

I would be willing to help with the News stories, and i could find some easy games to get on the site, if that ever did happen.

I'm sure others would work on the Graphics, all James and Mark would have to do if this ever DID happen would apply the changes, which are only suggestions!
