LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 1, 2007) – Britney Spears has lost custody of her children, Access Hollywood has learned.

According to court documents obtained by Access, Kevin Federline will be granted physical custody of the couple’s two kids – Sean Preston and Jayden James – on October 3.

Kevin, referred to in the document as the “respondent,” will retain custody “until further notice of the Court.”

The court ruling states:

“Respondent’s oral motion pursuant to section 214F.C. is granted and the matter proceeds as a closed hearing. The court and all parties present confer on the record. The court makes its order as more fully reflected in the notes of the official court reporter. The court’s prior order including the orders made on September 28, 2007, remain in full force and effect with the following modifications: Respondent is to retain physical custody of the minor children on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 12:00 PM until further order of the Court. Repondent’s ex parte application is noticed for October 3, 2007 at 1:30 PM in Department 88.”

I was sincerely hoping that this would not happen. To be honest, it seems to be one of if not the last straw. Although I thought she could have made a great comeback with Gimme More, she needs to sort her personal life out now before anything.

A good career would put things back on track to an extent, but only if she is in the right state of mind. Even if people today won't be as tolerant when she next comes back, her fans will probably stick by her and give her another chance as she is lucky in terms of getting the right song etc.

I know bless her.Although shes about 7 years older than me i feel like as ive grown up so has she.When I was a kid I used to love her and it seems like she was a totally different person then.Its sad to see how bad her situation has gotton

Seriously though, I think its quite a shame on her.

Its hard to believe this is the same, sweet innocent teenage singer who was a virgin when she first started off. It truly is a shame.

I think he's such an awful father and I don't think he'll be able to look after the children properly and I can imagine social services being round to him very soon.

I thought Britney was supposed to be going to drugs testing for at least a few weeks and if she stayed clean she would be allowed custody of her children?

In a way, I am glad this happened. Hopefully, This will make her sense and stop her wild/childish behaviour and be a proper mum to those two gorgeous kids.

And bring out some more music and forget that slimeball Kevin Federtwat.

I feel sorry for her, but this could be the wake-up call she needs to get her life back together and sort it out, and she could still gain custody again if she does. Kevin's a twat but the only difference between him and Britney is that the media expose Britney's faults more than his.

Hang on a minute...... I know K-Fed is a bit of a dunce.... BUT look how she has been recently, spells in rehab..... driving her car into someone else and leaving the scene without a valid licence, nearly dropping one of her kids while also carrying a hot coffee. Drving with the baby unstrapped in her car.

She doesnt give a hoot.... if she did.... she would have straightened herself out for the welfare of her kids. Even her own mother doesnt trust her with them and is on Kevins side.

She needs to sort herself out before she cant be responsible for two young children.

Got no sympathy for her whatsoever. I feel a lot of sympathy for the children though - they're bound to be screwed up with Britney and K-Fed for parents.

Britney herself has told the children they were mistakes (yes - to all the Sarah Silverman haters - Sarah was actually having a go at Britney referring to her children as mistakes when she had a go at her at the VMAs).

Ohhh I never knew that, I thought Sarah was just bashing Britney's kids. And I never knew Britney said that to her own kids, so I took the joke in the wrong context. And I can't believe Britney said that to her kids, if she really did say that then my sympathy has just decreased massively.

Totally agree Kiz. Feeling sorry for her is one thing but allowing her to retain custody of her children because people feel sorry for her is another. She needs a swift kick up the behind to shake her out of this self absorbed world she seems to live in. Her children should always come first but sadly there is little room for them in her world as her own needs and ego are to big.

The main issue is that the kids are loved, nurtured and cared for, lets hope that K-Fed does this.
