No - they got rid of that to put in extra shops or something like that

Gateshead to be more accurate, as it is south of the River Tyne, although it is well away from Gateshead town centre.

The one in Newcastle City centre is the Eldon Square Centre now under redevelopment.

The Metro centre is an out of town shopping centre so I very seldom visit it if I can avoid it.

Ironically, this temple to Mammon, opening on a Sunday, was once owned by the Church of England.

Lots of Newcastle players go there, as well as Geordie actors/actress such as Jill Halfpenny, and Ant & Dec when they're up here.

Or need to pop to Tesco, right?
They need shopping too. I've seen Jill Halfpenny in River Island doing her shopping, she wasn't doing big fancy fan-meets or autographs or anything. Just shopping.

I prefer to think of it as metro hell!!! was there yesterday with daughter trying to get her some new clothes. I hate the place with a passion but it has so many shops it's the best place to go to.

I agree. It is just too big and just too noisy. Thankfully I haven't been there since I lived in Durham years ago but we have a smaller version in Leeds which is just as bad.

Being a man I avoid shops except on Birthdays and Christmas Eve when I have to go shopping. So I don't go down to the city centre much but there are some good shops to be found in Leeds and I like Corn Exchange. I had to ban Kiz Harvey Nichols they sell too many posh hand bags.

Wow so many TiBB members near the north East, it has been ages since the last real world convention, how about one in Newcastle?

BTW I shop at Grainger Market, the Co-op on Newgate Street, the Food Court on Newgate Street, a health food shop near the empty space where the library was and local shops.

I'm from the North-East, but haven't been to the Metro Centre for years, last time was when I was at school and I went shopping with my best friends when we were in Year 11 cos it would be our last Christmas together at school.

I love shopping and you can't get me out of clothes shops - New Look's my fave, thankfully my bloke has the patience of a saint so he can put up with it if I brought him along!

Seriously it has everything under one roof BUT it gets packe which is why I hate it.

They do have a rather nice chinese buffett restaurant in the village now which is good, the only thing is the food is lovely and cheap but the drinks require you to take out a small bank loan.

Sticks I think a NE meet up would be lovely, we could look into it maybe closer to christmas or for the new year when everyone is bored

I know... but the atmosphere is great, and as you say it has everything under one roof...

...and any shopping centre with a Muffin Break in it is an... um... "friend" of me!

Lauren

Omg that Chinese buffet in the village is gorgeous - and Sunny - they don't begrudge you taking in a drink of your own so you don't have to pay their prices, if I remember correctly.
