Limwire!

I cant get my limewire to work.
Do any of you use limewire?if not do you use an alternative downloading programme?please let me know because it looks like ill have to start using something else

If you insist on downloading illegally use BitTorrent, preferebly on a private tracker (nothing like torrentsearch or demonoid etc - as you can see, they've been in RIAA sights for a while).

I use limewire and its working fine for me :S maybe try uninstalling it then installing it again :wink:

i use limewire but as Girth said ive found out it can be a bit dodgy as my sister said it can give us viriuses she also uses e-mule herself:cheer2:

Do't use it it will eventually ruin your computer with viruses and is also highly illegal. An eleven year old's parents got find 50 thousand dollars the other week because she used it. It is vitually theft. You are taking tracks that others have maybe oaid fr of Itunes.

I use it, but only for songs I can't buy.
If I know I'll get the CD, I won't bother getting it.

Then again, my disc drive's currently broken so I've been relying on it, along with Converttube.com to rip audio off youtube, and Firebug to get songs off myspace =/

I'd suggest using Bearshare, or Kazaa, practically Limewire, just not as good.

You could also try µTorrent, which is complicated but REALLY safe, my friend uses it.

I agree with all the people who say you should get rid of it.

I've a friend in the PC install business who is going to start charging extra fees for any PC that has been infected due to limewire.

i agree with that too as ive got limewire but i never use it but my sister keeps on begging me to get either e-mule or itunes :wink:

I stopped using limewire about a week ago when I found a better place to download stuff from, and it doesn't carry viruses with it.

I use Limewire, like I said, on not-so-mainstream artists, or artists who's stuff isn't available to buy in the UK.
However I do try to rip from youtube/myspace to prevent viruses&stuff. xD

yes i know it doesent matter what connection type you have but most "dogey stuff" comes on the items under cable and dsl.

fine but what im saying is that your more lightly to get a virus from a DSL or Cable item then a TI or T3 or Higher.

I use Limewire all the time for music, I can't download programs or games from it at the moment, I downloaded a few before, with cracks where needed and they were good but a lot of those tend to carry viruses so that's why they remove the content, I think.

If you stop using Limewire you must go on control pannel then add/remove programs and make sure it's gone for good. Just make sure you stay as far away as possible form Kazaa.

I think it's a shame...
Because the majority of you using Limewire or similar on a regular basis WILL eventually find yourselves with a damaged computer that ceases to perform certain functions. Even spyware protection etc often can't help you with a decently constructed and effective virus downloaded directly onto your computer. You're downloading directly from other people's computers, other people who might not even be aware they have a computer filled with viruses themselves, or could easily have given you a dodgy file on purpose.

Some viruses force your computer to randomly restart.
Some make it difficult for your computer to even start.
Some can affect your monitor.
Some can mess up your keyboard.
Some can affect your internet connection.
Some just generally slow your computer down.
Some cause pop ups.

The list goes on and on, and some of them will cause you such serious problems that you're forced to get your computer repaired or replaced.

It's not worth the hassle in my opinion. And the viruses/spyware usually kick in so slowly, that you don't even realise until it's too late...and just sit there continuing to download, unaware your computer is getting worse by the minute.

I tend to download from myspace, or specific independant websites.
Myspace involves people uploading their own songs for publicity, so they've no intention of causing anyone any problems. But you can't be too careful no matter what you're downloading.

Well I think I have viruses. My computer used to randomnly restart. It's stopped doing that now.. sometimes my keyboard decides not to work and my internet connection used to disconnect every day at the same time.

I don't use limewire, but my brothers do who use the computer, so i've deleted it now.

I only use it for torrents for tv shows, i find it faster downloading torrents from Limewire than Bittorrent.
