Don't get it yet, big mistake. It's full of crap at the moment. Wait until service pack one or two comes out.

I agree with Matthew. With Microsoft's track record, it's very bold to install their new operating system without waiting for any of the service packs. Remember, due to Microsofts omnipresence, every clever hacker in the world is currently trying to break Vista. Something tells me they’ll do it.
supernoodles!

I don't on my computer and I'm not sure it'll be upgraded just yet, although it is on my laptop. That's because I bought it recently though and Vista came with it. I quite like it as well - it's just as straightforward to use.

I don't but my dad does, and he says he likes using it, i've used it myself and its quite slow.
I have it. Can't see any problems with it. It's better than XP.

Maybe, but the countless errors don't make up for that. In it's current state it's awful value for money.

I've had it since the day it was released and am so far pretty happy. A service pack would be nice though yeah.

Desk top XP (This one is from 2002 and probably would not handle it - the fan goes crazy if you try and view anything on YouTube)
Laptop came preinstalled with Vista Home Basic.

I don't know what to think about it. The overall think is good but so far, so much people had problems with Vista so I'm going to wait a little bit more.

I can't really see the point in upgrading any of the old windows machines to Vista, it's not worth it. They all work well with windows XP and it would just slow them down and cost me money for the upgrades.

I could have got it for free, as the package came with my laptop, but I didn't send off for it. It seems to complicated for me, I'm happy with my Windows XP.
yes you go there callum same here too mate i did try it once but it is very hard when your so used to windows xp

Trying ?
Cracked copies were available the week before launch day - if you knew were to look.
No I won't be installing vista because of its DRM shackles, making even editing your own videos or ripping your own cd's, or converting your own music files a pain.
Looks like I'll be sticking with XP 'til it becomes open source, and then is made properly secure, just like W98 when that went open source, the bug fixes and mods that were made by the online community made it more secure and manageable than Microsoft ever did.

I just got OS X Leopard, beats any Microsoft operating system any day (so do all Macs). Then again, I've used Macs my whole llife so I have some bias.

i have vista and its great... best version ever and not yet had any problams (touch wood)
I find XP far superior to Vista.
All they seem to have done with Vista is change a few things around which just makes things awkward.

They did that when they moved from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. They decided to hide all the important bits and make them harder to get to.
Do you know if you can still set it up in classic mode so it looks like Windows 2000?
I have just spent 4 years getting to know XP which I love and now I am looking to get a lap top and they all have Vista, which I'm sure is very good but I can do without all the hassle of getting to know it right now. So do I have to buy xp separately.Someone told me that it's about £60 ??

XP will stop being supported in 2009, so you might as well bite the bullet.
Not sure what I can do about my desktop as it is 5 years old and probably on it's way out
I've got a MacBook, which has the new 'Leopard' system on it. I prefer Mac to Windows.

Can someone tell me the most recent version of windows before Vista?
As im not sure Vista is worth the money, and ive received a new computer that definitely needs an upgraded windows.
Or alternatively, what's a recommended price to pay for a standard version of vista?
I see know need to upgarde beacuse XP Home Basic gives me evrything I need!
