The bitch from Mode loves having an acid tongue
Becki Newton's got used to people yelling out 'Bitch!' as she walks down the street. And the 29-year-old star doesn't mind one bit.
'All the abuse just means I'm doing my job properly,' says Becki, who plays Mode magazine's acid-tongued receptionist Amanda in Ugly Betty.
'I couldn't wait for Victoria Beckham to come into the show. She plays one of creative director Wilhelmina Slater's bridesmaids. I really wanted Amanda to be so mad Posh is around that she'd call her a skinny slut!'
Becki bases her character on real-life fashionistas she's met in New York.
'These very over-the-top characters really do exist,' she insists.
'You don't meet them at the grocery store, but if you walk through the halls of somewhere like the Condé Nast building, where these magazines are based, you may well see clones of Amanda and Marc. It's frightening.'
