You can usually replay the show on Radio 1 after but I was so nervous

My advice about them is steer well clear of them.

Your function ? Because now we have proper functions ? You're quite big headed.
Sam was just happy, can you understand that ? He didn't say he's going to be a star, he only said "I've been on a radio show", is that wrong or being big headed ?
And I'm not going to value anything about you, go back down to Earth.

It's utter irony that Sticks feels the need to bring someone back down to earth for appearing on one of the most popular radio stations for a short while and just innocently saying "I was excited"
No bragging involved what so ever.
Whilst he himself tries to show off the fact he's appeared on a radio station ive never listened to in my life, and despite his so called "feedback and quoting" id struggle to find a single person who's aware of his existence.
Perhaps your so called "function" is better used by those more adept at using it, due to the fact they can direct it towards people more deserving...such as yourself.
Then again, it's often found that the insecure do feel an overwhelming need to bring people down to their level, and im sure psychologists would have a field day listing the many apparent reasons you gave yourself that so called "function" in the first place.

Perfect post. I do think its sad Sticks, that you feel you need a funtion on TiBB, maybe your importance isnt of that much, so youve made up a role to make you sound more important. Its a forum, not a monachy system. Im sorry Sticks, that your friends are no long on the forum but im not suprised if the old crowd are no more if thats how things were.
You completely sprayed your miserableness in a simple thread which was created innocently out of excitement.

I don't have time to search through the archives, but I did find this thread (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=26490) from the mists of time. In the olden days, some of the long gone members would have flights of fancy and imagination about the original Big Brother couple from BB2. It was whilst they were on those flights of fancy I helped them keep some semblance of feet on the ground. There was one time they were planning a virtual mission, in the style of KGB agents, so I came in as CIA. That was my role, and they thanked me for that.
But now they are no more

It triggered the "Bring back to Earth" routine somehow. This routine has been kind of lying dormant since the old days. It was never disconnected when the elder ones went across the sea to the west (To use a Tolkien style metaphor)

And is it a pretext for being negative with someone who just told us he has been on radio. He didn't ask some big congratulations but after all, a forum is a place where we can express some feelings and what Sam has done is a great exemple.
We didn't see the point of "Bring back to Earth" someone when he hasn't done anything wrong.

Can you honestly say Sam was expecting a "congratulations" ?
And even if he was, plenty of people don't get the chance to speak on a highly popular radio station with a celebrity...so would a congratulations be all that bad?
Im sure many a person appears on TV or radio and tells all of their friends, of which im sure you'd do the same =] providing you have any friends to share such news with. Infact, im willing to bet every regular public citizen of the planet who has appeared on television/radio has insisted on sharing it with people.
So what does he have to do to deserve such congratulations in your eyes?
Save the whale? Sponsor some endangered Rhino's? Star in a blockbuster movie? Win a war? Seriously, stop being so resentful.
It's beyond my comprehension as to why someone would try to deny someone's happiness over ringing into a radio station and talking with a celebrity. The only explanation I can think of are deep subconcious issues with your past, that have contributed to your sorry excuse for a personality at present.
Your attitude is coming across as "So what, you're happy that you talked on a radio station...do you expect me to be impressed? stop showing off, what you did wasn't even worth noting and I really don't care"
What justifiable reason could you have for such an attitude?
Sam didn't remotely thrust the situation in anyone's face, or claim he should receive special treatment...if anything he was a little hard on himself and said it didn't go well. You're just exposing yourself as bitter.

People like you always try to dress up a situation with "metaphors" or classing your attitude as a "routine" that was just "triggered" somehow. You've always got to try and place an intelligent spin on things, whilst ironically making what you've said rather stupid.
Anyone with a decent excuse for brain power could see that.
Im guessing from your words you've spent too much time presenting your "intelligent" discussions to simpletons, and thus developed some form of superiority complex that helps comfort you into thinking your brain could be passed off as anything more than mediocre. And everyone that's ever entered your life that resembled anything remotely intelligent, were most likely just glorified simpletons with a relatively decent understanding of the dictionary.

No, I just found it odd, because Sam's comment came across as "everyone else congratulated me, you should too". I bet it was a great experience, don't get me wrong, it's just that "wow, cool" is more of an expected reaction that "congratulations!". You're right, I did something cool, I met Lesley from Big Brother a couple of weeks ago, and I did in fact tell my friends, but no one said "congratulations", it was more "wow, that's great!". I just thought the post kind of seemed a bit odd, it's not like I'm being "bitter", "resentful" etc.
And as much as I loved you in depth reveiw of my personality, I'd save it for people you actually know instead of trying to read someone through one comment that I don't remember even including you in anyway. Sam had already replied, clearing it up, so your post was unnecessary, and quite undue.
If saying (and this is verbatim) "The only explanation I can think of are deep subconcious issues in your past, that have contributed to your sorry excuse for a personality at present" is your response to a slightly snide remark over the internet, then I wouldn't like to see how you react to anything worse in the real world. You must be hysterical all the time D:

Nah, it was just with people saying cool, and good for you, i dont see why someone had to say " so what". Its ok if sticks feels like that but he didnt have to post it.
I just meant it as in, everyone else can at least manage a nice comment . Im not asking everyone to post congratulation letters to me just for being or radio, but if youve got nothing positive to say, then why say it?
Anyway i really dont want to argue, it was just something i posted at the time as i was excited.

Sometimes id say the internet is a better reflection of a persons true personality, than anything they'd be remotely willing to display in person.
Some people who wouldn't dare say a bad word to anyone in the real world, can often be found to be quite offensive online...and display more of how they' actually are. As weird as it may sound, id say in some cases, random strangers online know a person better than their own family and friends, as far too many people are guilty of saying things here, they wouldn't do elsewhere.

This is just natural aftermath after what I originally posted, and it's obviously predictable that you'd insist on retaliating. But my earlier post still stands and the point was made, so anything further said by you is irrelevant...especially in regards to my so called "hysterical" nature.
This should be a perfectly innocent topic, and it has been ruined by two blatant people who insisted on introducing some kind of negative feel to what should have been a completely relaxed thread.
Too much of this has gone on around the forum lately, and I personally feel it's making the forum suffer. So if choosing to speak up about it labels be as "otherwise hysterical" then so be it.
Don't get me wrong, im all for well placed "snide" remarks and decently timed and constructed critisism's etc...but only when they're appropriate or done within certain topics. And this wasn't one that deserved such attention.

I did that long ago, with a resounding bump
My parents were away at the time, so I thought I had got away with it, as they were fanatical about not using the phone because it cost's money. Then some weeks later someone from a place where we used to live mentioned it in passing in a letter.
The "So what feeling" is not just limited to getting on a radio phone in. Many years ago I spoke to someone who had just got his honours degree, and the attitude was "I have just got it, so what" It was a sense of anti-climax. When I graduated, afterwards, I got a similar feeling.
So Sam and I are in the same club of people who have successfully got onto a phone in on National Radio. (Actually come to think of it I have also been on Talk Radio in the 1990's, like so many people but I digress)
We achieved someting, not many of those we know have done - wow!
So what ?
What do we do now
Do we allow things to go to our head, which is a danger, or do we move onto other things.?
BTW the "Bring down to Earth routine" is currently being reconfigured to apply system updates

It clearly wasn't being brushed over, as yours and Sticks comments were noted by multiple members...including the topic creator. So please don't try to detour the blame elsewhere by somehow claiming that me commenting on your negative actions created the problem.

You can keep your kettle, as im really in no need of one. Putting someone down for unsubstantial reasons is in a completely different area to me defending the topic creator and exposing someone's unnecessary behaviour.
You simply feel im passing myself off as superior because ive attempted to expose and comment on what you did, and you just plain don't like it.

I wouldn't call that poking fun, would you?
Also, you can insist that you "confused" the situation/Sam's post all you like, but ive read the topic back and nowhere does Sam phrase anything that suggests he expects a "congratulations"
It's a shame people can't just admit to being in the wrong and leave things at that, rather than insisting on defending themselves when they haven't got a leg to stand on. That's the only reason this has been turned into something more than it is...because you couldn't accept someone pointing out an error you made.
Which is why you insist on replying, not because you're right, but purely because you can't accept you were wrong. Hence the excuses and suggestion that it's my fault somehow...for pointing it out.

Also, Sam, I don't think Sticks' comment was necessary at all, I was just poking fun at the way you phrased it, as it seemed a bid odd. (:
Wow, you've come a long way from:

I'm not taking sides, but do you really expect everyone to CONGRATULATE you for calling into a radio show? It's hardly medal earning stuff...
Maybe if you'd simply said "I think that's uncalled for, why say that when all it's doing is ruining the excitment etc." then I would have understood. But all of your ridiculous psuedo-intellect with analyzing my personality and trying to demean me with your detailed explaination on how evil and scheming I am frankly did nothing but make the situation worse.
The way you dismiss everything anyone says to you that you don't like is fairly amusing, but also the way you think you can understand people when you *really* obviously can't. You don't know me, and you can't extract anything about me (Oh wait, "I think people are more themselves online in real life!!!" How can you know that? I can only assume you know this because it applies to you, which gives me a comfort that you don't act like a conceited know-it-all to the people that know you off the forum...)

The level of which I choose to comment on what you did is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is...my words wouldn't be there at all if you didn't post what you did. Or if conveniantly for you, I just didn't care =]
It's also contradictory, as you simply could have said "fair enough, sorry to cause offense...hope you enjoyed being on the radio" but you yourself insisted on the lengthy replies.
So that's what you've said so far, made void in an instant.

That's just a glorified version of the traditional argument "it's the internet, you don't know me! so you can't say anything"
You don't know anything about Sam, but still you stuck a "looking for congratulations" sticker to his forehead without a second thought =]
As I said before, knowing you really doesn't come into play if im dealing with what I see before me. If people had to know a person before making a comment on their actions, my keyboard wouldn't get much usage, and many banned members on this forum would still be around.
What I said about a person displaying more of themselves on the internet still stands, at very least they'll display exactly how they are in real life, which isn't a good thing if they're someone who acts unneccessarily.
Granted, I don't constantly walk around being a so called "know-it-all" in real life, but that's because I only come across as a know-it-all when im trying to express my views on something I disagree with, which usually tends to be people acting poorly...
Luckily there aren't too many of them in my life =]

You sound fine, trust me. How much does it cost to ring into a radio show? I can't say I've ever tried...
I couldn't be bothered to read your post Retroman, sorry. ;)

Apology accepted ^_^
Is there a link to the radio show? as my browser is being strange and won't allow me to click "< BACK" onto page one to check. Though it'll most likely be fine once ive submitted this post.
