Niki Evans has overtaken girl band Hope as the favourite to win X Factor after her spellbinding performance on Saturday night's show.

Bookies have seen a flourish of bets on the 34-year-old mum after she wowed judges and the audience with her dazzling rendition of Celine Dion's hit song from the movie Titanic, My Heart Will Go On.

Niki is now the 9/4 favourite to win the talent show ahead of Welsh opera singer Rhydian Roberts, who is on 3/1 and Simon Cowell's group Hope, who are on 7/2.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: "Niki and Rhydian are all the rage with punters for the X Factor crown. Our customers could well have the last laugh."

Meanwhile, bookies were celebrating after the shock exit of Daniel De Bourg from the ITV talent show, after he had attracted just £20 of bets to get the boot.

I think the hype for her has started too soon, I don't think she'll win, she is a good singer but doesn't have much else to offer. We need to see what she's like when she isn't singing a ballad as well.

I'm not surprised at all about that. I think Niki has a fantastic voice - there's no doubt about it, and I will support her since I feel she has proven she has talent. However, at the same time, I think we need to see a bit more from her in terms of different sorts of songs, and more of her in general.

It's a bit soon to predict a definite winner after just the second live show, but she has proven to be a strong contender. I just don't like it when things get too predictable in reality TV shows very early on. In fact, anything being too predictable makes the show less enjoyable to watch.

I am soooo happy, I really want her or Hope to win, but mainly her  she is by far the best singer.

She has a great voice, but I don't think she would sell records. It's just like Steve from series 1, he had the best voice but got nowhere in the market.
