11 Million?????
An hour-long EastEnders wedding special drew 10m viewers (43.4%) to BBC1 last night, fending off the challenge from ITV1's Emmerdale.
The special 60 minute edition of the corporation's soap – featuring the wedding of Stacey Slater and Bradley Branning - saw its audience build from an initial 8.5m (37.6%) at the 7.30pm start to a high of 10.9m (47.5%) at 8pm.

It was a huge anti climax to a story that should have ended months ago :P

I am very suprised that EE got so many viewers seeming the amount of flack this storyline has got.
If these figures are true then congrats EE, it just shows that you are back on top form, even with a mediocre storyline. Imagine the number of viewers EE could get with a great storyline, such as the vic raid in a couple of weeks, or the rumours about christmas.

I thought the corrie wedding was a huge let down to be honest. I mean at the end of the episode nothing had changed, David was alive and back to his old tricks and Sarah and Jason went on their honey moon.

Corrie had the most OTT wedding episode, unrealstic, where's Eastenders didn't need all of that, and it didn't need to go OTT just to pull in the viewers, Corrie is just scrapping t the bowl.

Well, at least in the Corrie wedding something dramatic happened, but the EE wedding was kind of predictable, everybody knew Stacey was going to get a bit wobbly and walk out. xD
As I said don't kill me, that's just what I thought of the wedding, and it frustrated me that they just went off on their honeymoon rather than the secret be revealed at the very end =/

The EE wedding wasn't dramatic enough... I read in InsideSoap magazine that their would a twist every 5 seconds... the only twist that really happened was in the bed room with the video camera... which was a bit cheesy, everyone knew Stacey and Max would get caught. o__o and now we have to wait even longer for the truth to come out =[

Corrie is so unrealstic, as someone said on another forum:
AS IF the family would try and interrupt the wedding just before thay say their vows! I am sure they would wait a few minutes for the ceremony to finish if they had ANY consideration (or sense, for that matter).
AS IF the police could have located the family before the end of the wedding anyway, since the David only did his disappearing act during the wedding itself (or so it appeared).
AS IF Jason would take David's side over Sarah's! LOL
AS IF anyone's going to be taken in by David again!

Let's face it, EE has always been the most popular soap, closely followed by Corrie, neither of which are perfect and can be a little far fetched and boring sometimes to us, but some people may have liked the storylines that we don't like, not everybody is going to like all the storylines. That's just the way soaps are. ^^
But still... I say the EE wedding was a little boring and had a dissapointing ending =/

Anyway just my opinion....
Oh I think its really corny as well. Well, I like Corrie, its the Highest Rated soap of 2007, 2006, 2004,2003, 2002
How do you work that out? What about Den coming back? Dennis dieing? I don't believe that for 1 sec!
Eastenders has beatinng Corrie in the past. Don't forget, they got 17/20 million veiwers when Den gave Angie and divorce pages on christmas day, that beat corrie, in fact no soap in the uk has ever beating that amount.
Urm....Corrie once got 28 Million?
Shut up!
28 Million!!!! :shocked::shocked::shocked:
Why the hell hasnt David been put in a mental home yet or at least marched down to see some sort of doctor!
He`ll do something such as giving bethany e`s or taunting his mam for months on end with cards pretending to be her dead husband who tried to murder them all-what does Gail do?
Sigh and carry on

I still want to see some prove, as if someone getting hit by a train would get so many viwers! By the way the Little Mo/Trever storyline was getting like 11/12/13 millions veiwers, and it helped so many women.

Yeah but you're talking about one off episodes with a huge build up and hype before. Coronation St on average has more viewers than EE, they're consistently good and don't rely on one offs to boost ratings which is more important.

Alan Bradley
Fact: This was the psycho who made sure Coronation Street got big ratings. Alan came to Coronation Street in 1986 to find his daughter, Jenny, who'd run away after her mother was mown down by a car. Alan started stealing some of Rita's money, and then tried to trick her into marrying him. After this, Alan turned from charming father to abusive boyfriend, and tried to kill her by smothering her with a pillow - but Martin Platt and Jenny rescued her just in time. Alan disappeared, and then tracked Rita down to Blackpool, and then the classic moment came when Alan met his end after being hit by a Blackpool tram in late 1989.
Fact: The Bradley demise pulled 26 million viewers, and was originally aired on ITV on 8 December 1989.

Was silly of ITV really, no call for a 1 hour episode. And now we're treated with a Family Album on Sunday. Argh!!
Edit:
Looks like it's tonight!! :(
I agree, Emmerdale need to grow up with their storylines. The content's so repetative and pointlessly over the top with all they're explosions and fires etc.:P

Just found this: EastEnders' first Christmas Day special in 1986 showed Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) present his wife Angie (Anita Dobson) with divorce papers. It attracted 30.1m viewers to BBC One - a ratings record that has not been beaten.
Go Eastenders

PLATT'S ALL FOLKS
The battle of the soap weddings was won hands down by East Enders this week.
Local bike Stacey Slater finally wed her man (without him finding out she'd been knocking off his dad). It was classic Enders drama - and is set to get rockier after Max and Stacey were secretly taped talking about their affair. While Corrie's Jason and Sarah Lou wedding was good, it was too predictable. David Platt tried to ruin it by faking a suicide. (Shame he failed.) Apart from the excellent car-into-the-canal crash, it fell flatter than an X Factor reject.
Source - The People
Sorry if you've seen this posted on another thread but I'm trying to get the word out! lol.
Finally, EE is getting the praise it needs, whilst Corrie is getting the kick in it needs (in a sense).

And EE will WIN ALL the awards next year because they are bringing back some of the best characters EE has ever had and that will draw old viwers that stopped watching back... PLUS we Have Franks Funeral which we wil see the Best SOAP Bitch return.... Janine..... EE is OFFICIALLY the best soap

I saw the Corrie bit Yesturday on ITV2 or 3 lol, anyway, the car bit was the best bit, I have to admit, great stunt, but it was just sooooo predictable and OTT, I mean as if Jason would forgive David when last week David tried to kill him.

BTW Corrie's ratings would have been higher but
A MAJOR investigation has been launched after thousands of people across the city were plunged into darkness by a huge power cut.
The blackout, on Wednesday, October 31, caused widespread disruption across Greater Manchester, with homes in Salford, Prestwich and even Wigan affected by the cut.
Fire crews had to respond to scores of automatic fire alarms triggered at businesses when the power went off.
In one local nursing home, a woman who was visiting her mum was trapped in a pitch black life in an office block for 40 minutes due to the failure.
Anne Burrows was visiting her mother, who lives in Pendleton Court in Chaplin Close, and was travelling in the lift when the power went out at around 7.30pm on Halloween night.
Sylvia Davies, manager of Pendleton Court, said: “We did have a bit of an incident on Wednesday night. Anne was visiting her mother and was in the lift when the power went off. It must have been terrifying for her -it was absolutely pitch black.”
Crew Commander of Eccles Fire Station, David Campbell, said: “We were called to Pendleton Court in Chaplin Close where a woman member of staff was trapped in a lift as a result of the power cut. She was in some distress as she was left in darkness.”
Street and traffic lights were hit bringing traffic chaos in a number of areas and the internet also went down for a short time, hitting shops and businesses.
United Utilities said a flaw in a major supply circuit caused the blackout at around 7.30pm. But by 8pm power had been restored to 51,000 homes. Electricity was returned to a further 9,000 customers by 9pm.
A spokesman said: “We apologise to customers whose power went off at 7.30pm last night. We are still investigating the cause of the fault which cut supplies to 60,000 homes across North Manchester.
The blackout also deprived Coronation Street fans of watching the drama unfold on the show’s wedding of the year as Sarah Platt and Jason Grimshaw finally tied the knot despite an apparent suicide attempt by Sarah’s troubled brother David.
Householder Paul Jackson from Clifton, Salford, described how his whole estate was plunged into darkness. He said: “Everything went off just as we were sitting down to watch Corrie on the telly. The street lights were off as well. It was total darkness.”
